no thanks, I hate 4 doors

45,500? that's not as bad as the cost of importing Skyline GT-Rs and registering, and putting them up to crash test standards...but it's still rather high... i'll just wait for Mitsu to import them over in 03...

Yeah I'm not a fan of 4 doors either. My car before the Celica was a 4 door Lumina. And I swore to myself then I'd never get another 4 door car. Unless it was an Evo :wiggle:

That car is soo f*cking awesome. The front looks hella mean and the performance is going to be unbeleivable. Hopefully they haven't watered it down too much for the US.

the way the car sells in japan is how this company imports them they are just changing the ecu to conform to emissions but the ecu is totally adjustable so its a jdm car and that 45,500 included certifications legalization and shipping to cali.....mike

Well I do agree with you on the looks of the WRX even though I wouldn't mind having the performance of one. I guess thats a start... lol

No thanks. I don't understand why people are getting so excited over a car nobody knows anything about yet.

As for importing one, I don't think I would ever want to go through that hassle.

:nono: i'll have to totally disagree wit you on that one bro. The wrx isnt that bad lookin once u get used to it. but the evo is just f*ckin dope. as of now i own a probe. im debating now. celica w/ mods or an evo ? who cares if it got 4 doors. its a hot lookin car and it got some balls.:bowdown:EVO VII

Sure I am, but I fail to see the connection. Nobody seems to have any official specs or pricing, so it is all heresay at this point. I remember when the new SE-R was announced all these rumored specs were thrown around in the Nissan camp and the car was touted as a "a four door Type-R killer for $20,000". Then the specs became more watered down month after month and then the car is released as you know it today. Definately not a type-R killer; it can hardly outperform the classic se-r (even that is up for debate).

It's like some screwed up religion, EVO will be our savior...

Well the Evo isn't a bad car, but I just can't fathom paying $45K for a 4-cylinder car. ;)

No way, if I could afford that...I would be all over it in a heartbeat. :)

If it ever gets imported to North America and the price drops to something more reasonable...I will be the first standing in line to order one!!

Although the Evo VI seriously spanks....It's ugly as hell. What's the point of being fast if your ugly.

Wait a few months and buy it for less than $30k with a full warranty.

But....if it was an I-6 TT with a toyota badge, I'm sure you would. :chuckle:

jason: most definitely why get a car with a 1 year warranty, when you can get a full one when the car is officially offered by mitsubishi.....I wonder what will happen to that company once the US EVO's come?......hmmmmm

the only thing i could foresee them "watering" down is through emission equipment and boost levels... supposedly the FMIC problem was resolved and the car meets crash test standards now... and everyone knows it pretty easy to get the power back outta a detuned turbo car... Mitsu finally realizes that this car will save their image and quite possibly their company here... you can't deny the fig's... 0-60 around 4.5 secs... .96g... 72.3 slalom... those #'s definetly spark my intrest... and i personally don't think of it as a ugly car...true it doesn't have the lines of a sleek coupe...but it's by no means ugly... the WRX on the other hand...i just don't like it... unless you get those JDM STi lights and dif wing...then it looks respectable...

Why not a 4 cylinder car? One of the fastest cars i've ever owned had 0 cylinders. Its not how many cylinders you have, but how much boost you run.

Personally I think the evo looks great. Plus you just can't beat an AWD launch. Sure some people can catch up to you, but leaving people 3-4 car lengths at a stoplight drag is just awesome.

Evo has been avail in Europe for a while now.. you can pickup CAR or Top Gear with its reviews... apperantly its much faster that WRX STI
;-)

There's no way in hell I'd pay $45K for an Evo while I could get an M3 for that much. Now for $30K, I'd definitely take a look at the Evo if I were in the market for a new car.

spwolf

$35-38k is estimated prices... so its cheaper than M3, yet freakin fast... i still wouldnt get it tho :P

STI is supposed to come at $33-$35k tho

Evo VII over a WRX STI any day, the difference is a more focused driving experience. I love the look of the Evo VII, who really cares how many doors it has? So easy to coax 300-400Hp plus from these cars with simple bolt on parts. Also huge aftermarket support.

Actually there's tons of rumors about the new Evo.

1) Evo will actually be the EVO VIII instead, which is slated for release in Japan next year. Someone from mitsui quoted saying it would be "world wide release"? Possibility. Hard to say, since other rumors point to test Evo VII's in california already.

2) Lot of rumors floating around that it will be a 6 speed instead of the usual 5.

3) HP numbers are still questionable. Last statements from mitsu said it would be above 250. Most people are saying it'll be 260+, hard to say right now.

4) Price. Mitsu quoted as saying it'll be below $30k, as the base model. Thats a definate great starting price. This could perhaps be a very base model, or a detuned model. Nobody knows for sure yet.

Essentially, its all rumors and there's no hard facts about the EVO. IF the EVO comes to the US as 250+ HP and around 30K, it will definately be a market for it. Anything above 35k, sorry, most people will look at BMWs and such.

I love my celi, and the EVO doesn't look as good as it. But if the EVO comes at a reasonable price and not very detuned, i'm going to be trading my baby in. I like the EVO styling a lot better than the WRX.

The Evo RS is the base model... it's factory deleted... no radio, 17" wheels, sunroof, a/c, recaro's, brembo's, momo wheel and shifter, navigation, HID, and wing...it's for the serious racer...

the GSR is the one to get...with only 3 options... HID's, Navigation, and sunroof...and it comes as a standard package with 17's, Brembo's, Recaro's, Momo wheel and shifter, a/c, CD player, and wing... there was many of articles stating the GSR will come for 27,500 without the before mentioned options... the EvoVIII may also use a GDI engine with Mivec... if it does... God help those with anything less...

4-cylinder turbo car. I think that's about it... that it's a stock turbo so you know there some R&D before mass production.

Sh*T for 45K, I'll def go new M3. Spend just a little more. Let's see...M3 = Prestiege, Power, luxury, well known, reliable, get's the ladies hot...shall I go on. :)

If you want four doors, I'm pretty sure BMW will come out with four door version M3.
