View Full Version : Witnessed red Civic wipe out on I-985 in GA

I am posting this here because the Civic may have been travelling with a pair of riced-out Celicas. One Celica was blue and the other was black. Both had wings and a fart pipe, and stickers to this web site: newcelica.org
The Civic was red with some kind of body kit that gave it a square apearance, kind of like a BMW.
This happened Sunday May 19 at 16:00.
The Civic was behind the two Celicas on I-85 N. Traffic was backed up because of construction. I got through the traffic ahead of them because I picked a faster lane. So two miles after getting off I-85 onto I-985, the red Civic is coming up from behind fast. No sign of the Celicas.
I was in the left lane going around a line of slow cars in the right. The Civic whips it onto the shoulder and speeds past the slow cars, and myself, who had gotten ahead of them and moved into the right lane.
He then proceeds to the next pack of cars and both lanes are blocked by traffic. He gets right on the bumper of the SUV in front of him, and it looked like he was going to rear end it. He may have. But at the last instant he whips it onto to the shoulder again to zoom buy but skidded into the grass. He tried bringing it back onto the highway and went into a spin. He spun across the road, and when he was in the middle of the road I and the other cars had caught up. I barely missed him, but I don't know if everybody else was so lucky. He ended up in the median.
There were about 3 other cars stopped. Don't know if he hit them or not. Or if they stopped to "help" his reckless ass and see if he was OK.
The 2 Celicas stopped as well. That's why I think he might have been travelling along with them.
Are those Celica owners here today? If so, do you know who the Civic driver was and if so, why he was driving like such an idiot? What happened? Was his car damaged badly? Was he or his passengers hurt? Did he get a lot of tickets?

It'll be interesting to see how this develops. However, I don't think that assuming things at this point is the right way to go.
The Celica owners may have stopped just to help out. I know that if I was driving along and saw someone "wipe-out" I'd be right there to help, even if I didn't know that person.

He didn't get hurt. He only got a ticket for "following to close". I won't comment on exactly what he was doing. He was able to drive his car home though. As far as riced out Celicas, you don't know what your talking about. Are you the guy that was driving the Grand National?

I love it how anything that has a NICE aftermarket exhaust is Rice looking to some people. Or anything that is not "from" this country is rice.
I have a friend that is so arrogant and closed minded. He doesn't have a clue what he's talking about other than the fact that if it doesn't have 8 cylinders it's a POS.
He walked into my garage area and saw my TRD exhaust and got all pissed off and said wtf is that?
I just went off on him.

He's lucky he didn't get reckless driving. That was one of the stupidest acts of driving I have ever seen.
Which Celica were you in?

I'm sorry man, but if you were using the median or the shoulder to pass people, then you basically just got what you deserved. This is real life, not Tokyo Extreme Racing. If you are so reckless as to pass people illegally in such a manner, bad karma is bound to get you before long... this thread is proof.
Maybe you won't drive like a choad from now on...

Both drivers should have a foot shoved up their ars for driving 115 in traffic. WTF is that all about? And don't tell me "Well there was an opening" .....
I don't care, you are still endangering the lives of others that are just trying to get to work or whatever else.

That sounds pretty damn moronic if you ask me. At least you or anybody else didn't get hurt. You need to not worry about other people thinking they "beat" you if you aren't even racing. Who cares?

Why did you quote me in your sig?? Did you like what I wrote that much. I mean its funny but what I was saying was I wouldnt race him at that time.

I was in the left lane, and a black grand-national was in the right lane. I wanted to get over, but he wouldn't let me, and proceeded to match my speed to 115mph, where my car tops out....
Nope. I was in the GN. I had the cruise set on 75mph of so and was passing a car. You can flying up from way behind and got right on my ass.
Listen, tailgating people is very uncool and dangerous. Especially going freeway speeds.
Then you whipped it into the right lane to pass since we were ahead of the slower car in the right lane. That's when I punched it to pull ahead. When I got ahead I pull in front of you into the right lane and slowed down. You then tried passing again and moved into the left lane. So I punched it again and got ahead once again.
We came up fast on some cars, and I still needed to get over so i slowed down, got behind him. He then got on my left side and started to speed off, and it pissed me off that he would get off thinking he beat me, when I wasn't even trying to race.
Yeah, right. If you weren't trying to race, why in the funk were you going so fast?
So I passed a set of cars on the median, not the smartest thing to do, but it worked, I left him behind......then later on:
That's when I decided not to play with you anymore. You are a reckless idiot.
I was then coming up on my exit, and there was a glare of light on the tail-lights of the blue SUV, i couldn't tell that he was breaking until it was too late....
I ended up right in his bumper, and I had to swerve to miss him, but I still clipped his bumper, and it threw me into a spin....when I was only going 60mph, which is 5mph below the posted speed limit.
Yeah, and how fast were you going before you got on his bumper?
What was your hurry? Why didn't you just slow down after you passed those cars on the median and got in front of me? What were you trying to prove?
Going fast with that grand national, and passing those cars on the median had nothing to do with the accident....although to someone that was probably passed at high speeds, and couldn't see the outcome, it may have looked that way....
I agree. Like I stated before, I quit playing the first time you went on the shoulder. It's dumb ass ricers like you that give other import enthusiasts a bad reputation.

i am not sure about the dude that posted the story what exactly he did or if he was in the buick. but for the kid in the civic, you screwed yourself buddy cause you were pissed and becuase he thought he beat you, who cares what someone thought that you dont even know. you should be more concerned with safety of yourself and the rest of the people you coulda killed. i sware if a family member ever died in a car accident by some dumbass i would show up to his funeral and take a dump on his casket being lowered into the ground.

oh, and btw- to the dumba55 (read civic driver), chances are that if you WERE racing, he would have left you ALOT farther back with a GN than that-besides driving moronically (by your own admission)-unless you are running a serious twin turbo setup you would have had a damn hard time even thinking about keeping up with him.

how ironic is that jonathan that the kid has 1 post? and he knows the kids from newcelica.org. who prolly called him up, and said theres a post about you on nc.org. so then he posted........oh, it all makes sence now doesnt it. LoL....jk :)

How far behind were you? Were you guys racing before you caught up to me? All I know is I was passing a car and see the red Civic way behind in the rear view. Next thing I know he's riding my bumper. That pissed me off so I tapped the brakes, but we were already ahead of the car I was passing.
SiMKiN, if you ever tailgate me like that again, I will follow you until you stop and then put two dollars worth of nickel knots on your head.

nickel knots on your head? Man, let me guess, you live north of Gainesville and have a gun rack in your GN? If he was being a dumbass, so were you, you said it yourself, you were in that traffic "playing" with him.

dude-sorry-but don;t try to defend what your buddy did-it was just plain bad-the GN driver sounds like he was playing a bit as well, but it also appears he knew when to say ok, let's not get dangerous and the civic driver drove on the frickin median and shoulder to try to "play?"
Not saying what the GN driver did was completely righteous here, but it was basically nothing compared to what the civic driver did by his own admission......
edit: btw- a couple of "nickle knots" might have done him some good.....

Nope. Let me guess, you wear a backwards ball cap and oversized baggy jeans and listen to rap? (just kidding)
If he was being a dumbass, so were you, you said it yourself, you were in that traffic "playing" with him.
Nope. I only accelerated when there were no other cars around. And when we approached cars, I slowed down. The Red Ricer swerved onto the shoulder to pass them (and me).
You must be the driver of the black Celica I saw. You've got a nice car.

It sounds to me that you are just looking for some Sh!t weather he passed you or not it did not give you the right to be a d!ck, just let him by and get over it that's called road rage and it has killed, but I will admit it sounds like both of you did something stupid but I will say that lyonsd was trying to start something and you are just as bad as smikin.

The reason the driver of the civic is on nc.org is because I am on nc.org. I am his fiance. I was the blue celica pulled over on the shoulder. I was a ways behind him and didn't witness the accident. I am very grateful no one was hurt.
The fact that you were "playing" with him makes you both at fault. You both were endangering your passengers and other people's lives in the cars around you.
He is young, how old are you?
Your kid in the car too...
Now you are threatening to shoot him..
Sounds like you need to grow up too.
If someone tailgates me I get over and if I am really hacked off about it I bright them or flick them off. I will NOT proceed to play a little chase game with them or follow them and get myself life in prison by shooting them. We live in Atlanta and I am always putting up with rude drivers. I cannot change the way they drive but I will NOT contribute to it by participating.
I love my car and my life.
I also love him.
I hope he will think twice before the plays with someone like you again.
This incident is over and done. The lesson has been learned. Bickering about it accomplishes nothing.

Let me get this straight...I was riding along minding my own business with the cruise control set to 75 mph and in the left lane passing a car. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, an idiot in a red Civic is riding my bumper.
Now explain to me again how I'm the one trying to start something?
All I was doing was trying to get home from a day of racing down in Reynolds.

At fault for what? His accident? I don't think so. I stopped playing with him long before he rear-ended the SUV. He even stated so above that the "race with the GN " had nothing to do with it.
The fact is, I slowed down before we reached that group of cars. He didn't. He passed them on the shoulder like an idiot.
You both were endangering your passengers and other people's lives in the cars around you.
There weren't any cars around us when I was driving fast.

Street racing at any time any place is "wrong and dangerous". But how many of us have done it anyway?
If you're going to street race, and many of us are, then like Dirty Harry said, "A man's got to know his limitations".
You've got to know when to quit. When the other car has you beat, performing a ricer fly-by or passing on the shoulder is ludicrous.
