all I know from Atco is, they qualified but something happened on Sunday and unfortunately Rado didnt run (least while I was there he didnt) I talked briefly to him and he said they were in the middle of a problem and they were trying to get it fixed.

its an actual FWD celica, the turbonetics celica is the V8 RWD one
FWD with a 2.7 ltr 4 banga.
I talked to Jay briefly, and he said something about the big tires were getting too much grip and the engine got a lil volital. Then they threw on the small tires and they ran the time above. In all this, the TRD motor got hurt, so they threw in the World motor. Then there was a problem with the wrong sensors yada yada yada. I don't want to say too much, cuz I'm really confused about the whole thing myself. Never the less, TRD was supposed to have extra motors to them last week incase something like that happened and they obviously never made it there. Eh, better luck in two weeks hopefully.

what kinda 60ft times are they pulling with FWD?

We expect low 1.30's and our overall goal is 1.20's at the 60 ft. Our quickest with the Integra was a 1.42 and we know we can go way quicker than that with our special setup. The 9.28 @ 165 pass was our way to get the car down the track just to qualify. We inflated the tires to higher than normal air pressure so we would just spin the hell out of them, so it did and went toward the centerline. Chris got completely out of it and corrected it then got back in it, the 60 ft. on that pass was a 1.56, horrible for us. We were all excited for Sunday, we thought the engine was running well, and we were going to lower the tire pressure to get the car to grip. After the burnout the car was running on 3 cylinders, again, and it went 9.58?? I believe, I know it was a mid nine, so we looked at it in the pit and the engine was hurt. So we had to change it before the 1st round of eliminations. We had the beats bumpin' and we were some engine swapping fools, luckily Jimmy from Venom killed his 2JZ in his new Back-Halved Supra and gave us the extra time we needed. Everything is together and in and the thing won't fire....WTH!! By the time we figure out what was wrong, they just ran our race with a substitute in our place, Steven Thompson. Oh well, we had fun and put on a good show while it lasted, these are all trials and tribulations of having a new race car. We only have 7 passes on the car now, and we are getting quicker with each run. The Celica is getting wired the right way right now, we were using TRD's dyno harness as a temp thing. Hopefully test here then head off to Houston and San Antonio.
Later Guys,
Jay

That sucks when your getting too much grip.

I guess traction can be your best friend and then when there's too much it can also be your worst enemy

I've never had too much traction??

Ever had a 980hp motor strapped over your front wheels that have slicks the size of big screen tv mounted to them?

Nope, never raced a front wheel drive car and always had an abundance of torque, hence my original statement. :)

That's the key

The key to what?

rwd cars get too much traction as well, in other words, your making so much power that your components aren't holding up to what your putting down....... well maybe its worded wrong, great traction too much power for parts to hold up

Bottom line, if you are getting too much traction then there are problems with your set up.

Our problem was that we set the suspension and tire setup to have enough traction to run 7's, we are not making enough horsepower yet to spin the big tire, we need about 300 more horsepower to run the car at max potential. Right now we need to get our supsension and engine setup to run at least mid to low 8's consistently, when we do that we will have developed the engine enough where we can turn up the power and put the bigger tire on that is needed to go 7's and pull low 1.20 60fts. The engine sits totally in front of the tires, so all of the weight is concentrated on putting the tires on the ground as much as possible and with the traction bars (wheelie bars) they keep the front planted when it wants to move the weight to the back. Hence our too much traction for the horsepower. We are already making more horspower and torque than anybody else, we just need to use it better.
See you at Houston!!!
(I have to get back to the dyno testing on our Nitrous Controller!!!)
