[QUOTE]" The Japanese bB, a.k.a. the Scion xB, put Scion on the map in the United States in 2003. However, its eensy size and eensier engine were definitely better suited to Toyota

^^ Don't forget its a more stylish cardboard box. :chuckles:
The red one looks kinda like a yaris.... Prepare for the Scion marketing engine to plaster this one all over your TV just like tC, performance not based in reality...

That's the xD? That's it? And we're supposed to buy that? I don't see how it's any different than the xA. If toyota really wants to grab attention with the scion line, they should re-debut the MR2 as a Scion. We all know the tC is a celica replacement, and it works for that... but this whole scion thing just isn't turning out like they wanted it to -- They need a car that's fun to drive. Put out a 6-speed manual 2-seat convertible and watch the sales soar. I could guarantee it.

a long time ago in a galaxy far far away there were rumors of the MR2 being rebuilt under the Scion badge. tCs are a piss-poor replacement for celicas. (please be not offended, I just have a great dislike for tCs).
Scion is doing what Toyota expected it to do... sell cheap cars to the youths (or people who have small pockets). WE want them to be fun to drive, but unfortunately, Toyota thinks on another plane. Recently, they've adopted a new method in manufacturing their cars that's cheaper to make (and most likely cheaper build quality). Probably the most fun Toyota to drive right now would be the IS.

It just looks like updated styling, not a whole new car. Either way, at least it's not ugly like the xB.

I've driven an IS 350 extensively and it isn't at all any fun to drive. It's almost purposefully un-fun.

Doesn't surprise me. I figured perhaps the luxury would kill the fun.

Why do misinformed people always say that?? :chuckles: Seriously the tC is the worst replacement for the Celica and doesn't have any similarity to it expect FWD & maybe the suspension setup which doesn't improve the tC's horrible handling. Plus if you really look at the specs of the tC you'll see its more like a Camry
tC of course surpasses sales figures of the Celica but thats only mainly because of the Scion marketing engine producing commercials with purdy graphics to lure in the younger crowd. Basically if you buy a Scion for performance you've been owned by their marketing department. :chuckles:
Ok I'm done now with my lil rant.... :gap:

I never said it was a good replacement... I wanted a tC pretty bad, but the salesguy we know down at the toyota dealership put me behind the wheel of a celica before letting me make a final decision on a tC. Love at first drive. Won't touch a tC now. I was back at the dealership getting my second Celica, sat in an '07 tC just to see how I felt about it in comparison, and it just wasn't right. Way too roomy (strange complaint, huh?). Gotta love the curves on the interior of the celicas, and the way they hold you in.

Don't worry. Its a comment that alot tC owners say. Its so god damn annoying to hear. At least you didn't buy one. Just never say it again.

Not freakin much. Toyota really should to remedy that-but they dont need to. It does seem that Toyota has faired much better than Nissan did when they had little to offer in the performance/fun-to-drive segment, though. When Nissan had no 200SX SE-R, Sentra SE-R, 240SX, or Z, and boring iterations of the Altima and Maxima, their sales plummeted. It seems Toyota pushes on and thrives, because droves of soulless robots called American car buyers like the no frills, high fit and finish, and the reliability record of Toyota. The Supra, Celica, and MR2 were largely ignored in their heyday by showroom goers.
