the only mods I have done to my car is the S2000 antenna, debadged, and indiglo guages

what exactly does "pimp out" mean to you? I'm all for the debadging, I'm not much for "looks" so indiglo gauges don't do anything for me, but hey, it's your car. Don't do a mod b/c someone else will think it's cool. Do it b/c you think it's cool. Even if that means "ricing" it out (by my definition). But, I definitely don't support "ricing", but again, IT'S YOUR CAR...

If I was to suggest mods, it would be all about performance: turbos, bigger brakes, etc, but that's just me...

What's up Gumby! Nice to see you posting again!

On to the subject.. I'm a female who works on her celica. I think it's awesome. The car hobby is male dominated.. and to find females bold enough to do their own thing, ON THEIR OWN, is amazing. I give those women mad props. If your boyfriend does all the installs and gives you all the ideas.. then your better off driving a stock car in my eyes. Just my 2 cents.

hey selika2000 you look exactly like my ex girlfriend. I wish I hadn't ruin that friendship for 2 weeks worth of f*@kin.
But anyways back to the subject, my current girlfriend mods her car by herself she just asks me where to purchase things. that girl has wilder taste that I do.

I give respect to the car, not the gender. Some of the funniest looking people have the dopest looking cars. It's all about the spirit and the love of the hobbie.

Me... I'm, obsessed with the hobby and the Celica. I'm a straight nut for the game. I can give props to anyone with that type of motivation. :)

I think it's awesome, at least it gives you a common interest with girls, and more importantly, something to talk about. Only disadvantage is that you may end up buying parts for their car, not yours.

:werd: and this is coming from a girl. I love cars.. have ever since i was little and i'm happy to crawl under my car and get dirty. My prob with some girls is that it seems they are more into it for attention. Definantly not all are.. but its really frustrating when you can tell a person is into cars simply for the attention.. they aren't a true enthusiast.. they do the stuff they do because they think it makes them cool or something. I see guys do it as well.

Honestly... you didn't even need to ask the question.. its a given, guys think its cool when a girl is into cars. But do the stuff because you like it, enjoy it, and have a passion for cars. Not because the guys think its cool or hot.

I agree with Jami that some girls and guys do "mods" or whatever for the attention. Like this dumb guy Lauren and I met at IDRC who we tried to tell him about NC.org and invite him into our local Celi group events, which he declined. I also asked him what rims he had and he didn't even know what brand they were. All he cared about was that daddy paid for them and the he had rims. I was like, WTF. He is an example of someone doing sh*t just for attention and not the love of the car.

But to stick to the gender issue, that's why La Femme Elite has only 3 members (1 still tentative). Obviously guys like girls with pimped out cars, cause it's a male dominated thing right now. So we are picky about who we let into our little local group cause we want girls who share the same passion, not just because their boyfriend bought them rims or an exhaust and they don't even know WTF is on their car. Granted, we don't know EVERYTHING about cars, but we are learning and we help eachother.

Nice to see you again Gumby! Celi is looking awesome. Funny, I was also thinking green (although not that exact shade) before I got my graphics. Hope to see ya at another local meet

I think that everyone does certain mods for attention, and that definitely isn't a bad thing. Why bother doing all of this to your car if you don't want other people to see it? If that's the case then mod your car and keep it parked in your garage. If you are going to put the effort and money into making your car look good, go faster, whatever, you obviously want people to see it. Everyone likes attention whether you realize it or not, or else you would be driving a ****ty car, but you're not........

If your car is just the baddest all-out performance car, you don't really need to worry about the look of the car, b/c all the other driver is really going to be seeing is your tailights (depends how bad your car is) This is what I'm into. How fast does the car acclerate? How quickly does it stop? How many G's can it pull on the skidpad. AND can YOU actually drive the car to the ragged edge of it's potential...

So I'm not doing anything to get people to look at my car. That's not to say I want my car to be all "clapped-out" and crunchy looking, but for $1000-$2000 for wheels and tires, that's A LOT of $$$ that I could spend instead on actual performance parts for the car, and that's just the wheels & tires. How much do some people spend on those elaborate body kits & paint jobs? But that's just me...

But to get on a soapbox, I think that's kinda what's wrong with this society. It's not about what abilities we have, it's all about "how we look" regardless of the abilities. Ah ok, enough BW for now...

Right on, I completely agree with what you are saying. Whether you are trying to attract attention by how your car looks, or its performance, we all do things to our cars for reasons other than just pleasing ourselves. Maybe we don't want to admit it, but we do. All i'm saying is don't get mad at the people who try to make their car stand out, there really is no difference between them wanting to attract attention because of how their car looks, and other people wanting to attract attention for how their car performs.

Well, I never get mad, I laugh:D If you want to impress me with the way a car looks and be unique, do it with a kit car. But anyone hoping for my approval would be wasting their time. I'll glance it over, think to myself "nice" and then move on.

I'm not out for performance because I want to get respect from anyone else, it's all about bumping up the topspeed a little bit higher or making it through this turn a little bit faster. Feeling the G's that my body is experiencing & trying to feel if the tires are about to break loose and spin me out, or if they really are going to hold the car to the road. I am in control of this machine, and it is doing what I want it to do (or not) It's me, the car & the road.

Geez, now I sound like Dom Torrento or something:o

I know I built my car for attention.... It also doesn't mean that I am looking for approval everything great will be critisised .... I built my car for the recognition of being in magazines and taking home trophies. Every one in the scene is building there car for recognition in one way or another wither your looking to take home a good time slip on the track or take home a first place trophie at show's some of you are looking to do both . a fast time slip and a 1st place trophie still get your attention . so don't get mad or even laugh because someone is looking for visual attention instead of pushing thier limits behind the wheel for attention

Talking about girls and cars, how is the celica calendar project ???

05-21-2002, 02:31 PM
i dunno.. i could care less what others thought of my car.. its for me not them. I do get pissed off when people try to talk crap to me about my car when they have no clue what they are talking about.. or give me a thumbs down from a base model automatic integra with a ****ty sounding exhaust. If someone wants to critisize my car i hope they have a very very good and valid reason for it.. and if they give me a thumbs down from their car passing me by.. it better be some fast **** to back up that thumbs down... to each their own... but there's a point when its disrespectful.. and i've been getting the disrespectful end of things when it comes to negativeness towards my car.

I enter my car in shows to get recognized and i'm glad all the people like my car and wanna check it out. I want to take home a trophy. But i'm not into cars simply for attention purposes's or because people might think i'm "cool" for having a nice car. I modded up my car for me and no one else. I put things on it because i liked them and not because it would get me attention from people... and let me tell you its 50/50 positive and negative attention.

I like a person who is down to earth and positive.. doesn't prance around trying to constantly show off their car because they think it makes them special. If your into cars great... do it because YOU love it.. not because of other people.

Let's be honest here, just about everyone in this game likes attention. Yes, it's a hell of an adrenaline rush to go fast, but it's even better when I walk V8s all the way to 130. That's where the go fast goodies come in. But beating someone else is in a sence to show off that you are the shizzy. Whether you do it by mopping the pavement with someone's ass in a race or car show, many of us are in the game to "show off." Plain and simple.

I love my car to death, and the blue is oh so beautiful... but all that work that I put into it? You're damn right I'm going to show it off. Whether you're a girl or a guy, or whether you like to glow or go, it's all the same game. I prefer to look good and go fast. Call me an attention whore I don't care. When you can kill Vettes in shows and in the races; who can hate that? I'm lovin it either way.

Extra Premiere sexiness.. I love when girls have good taste in cars regardless of their looks. The girl I am talking to, she drives a fixed up Civic and I think that is pretty hot, granted she doesn't know a lot of technical stuff.... what makes better is that she is cute toooo just like her ride... ehhehheheh

I have found that sometimes, girls with really nice cars have an attitude. But then again, so do most ricers!

I think a girl with a modded car is as sexy as Ivana Humpalot with a minx!

agreed about the attitude.. i always try to kinda look over and smile at a girl in a fixed up car but they always just stick their nose up to me and try to speed off.. or they give me some pissed off look :(

I think it's totally natural for us to want and expect some recongintion after all the hard working hours (not to mention butt loads of cash) we put into our cars. i just think its wrong when people try to fix up their car for the sole purpose of gaining attention. i honestly dont mod my car all for me alone, but i am the number one reason. getting props from folks is just a bonus.

i believe that you should fix up a car bcuz you have a passion for it. otherwise your are likely in a state of desperation and use your car as an antidote to alienation. so if this is you, then get your act together you worthless, self-loathing piece of ____. learn to love your car for who she is, not the props she brings to you.

(sorry, you're not really a worthless, self-loathing piece of ****! im just having a horrific day and am in need of counciling. =)

i concur. i gues its hard for some people to roll up to someone and give them props for their ride. just afraid of being shut down i suppose. this one time i saw a guy i knew on the freeway in his fixed up corolla (try not to laugh plz) n i pulled next to him and was trying to get his attention to say whats up. he never looked over, just kept his hand on the wheel, gangsta style, with his other hand on the shifter (eventho its an auto, but dont tell ne one) n he just kept staring ahead. i was like, daym!! i guess he thought i was trying to race him.

for me its rare that i try to tell someone i like their ride and have my compliment taken gratefully. strange . .

Yeah I don't know what it is with some chics. You look over and automatically they assume, "who the hell does that b*tch think she is" attitude and they want to race. You try to be nice and they just give you crap!

I mod my car out 'cause I want to and I have fun doing it. I like working on my Celica as well as my family's other cars. I have my boyfriend, Raw Iron to thank for that. :applaud:

Of course we all ove the attention to a certain extent. Like Bo said, whether it's in a race or a car show, it feels great to get some recognition. But my only complaint about the guy that I used as an example was that he was doing it PURLEY for the attention and not because he loves his Celica like we all do so much or because he was modding his car for his own personal taste like Jami said, it was more like Oh Daddy bought me some aftermarket chrome rims so now I'm cool.

Is it me or does that front fender look wierd for some reason? It looks kind of high towards by the window.

Anyways girls who fix up their cars are cool as long as they pay for the stuff themselves and not have their BF do it for them all the time.

BTW... I think Gumby's fender looks weird cause he shaved his side mirrors.

it's not actually the fender that looks high it's the door ... your right stacy it's because the mirrors are gone ... the slant of the door and the place of the mirror give it that affect I'm thinking about painting that section black just so it does not look so akward hoping that it will blend with the windows at that point

whatever, she was wack.. and i dunno why i was w/ her for so long, she's not good looking.
