Here's a few pictures of the install I did with my XM Radio. I love the stations that are available and the sound quality is great.

So the unit fit in that compartment? I have been debating doing this, but I wanted to hide the reciever. Does that unit modulate to an FM station or wire into the headunit?

Very nice looking install. I'd also like to know the answers to Willis' questions. I don't want anything that runs through an FM modulator, but also don't want to give up my MD headunit. I'm wondering if I can go with XM on those criteria.

yakko you can get an attachment that will plug into the stock stereo.. i have mine in my car and my friend just got one for his prelude... no reason why they wouldnt have one for the ITR...

I'd love to get XM. Radio stations here suck. Also would like some good talk radio to listen to. Music gets old after awhile.

i could not get the thing to fit, not without modification, mine is in my glove box.
note: this was pre-eclipse head, and pre TWM SS. the unit is now angled a little more towards the driver side.

I'll look at the link later. Thanks. I don't have the stock stereo in though. I've got a Sony ES MD unit I'm not willing to give up.

I wanted to get the kit with the modulator but the guy at Best Buy said that they were re-called due to the modulator being defective.
I'm using the cassette adapter it came with for the time being. Once I change my head unit I will use the AUX inputs and get rid of the cassette adapter. The one thing I don't like about this receiver is that I have to use the cigerete lighter adapter to power the XM receiver. I would have liked to hard wire the receiver so I wouldnt have to use the cig. lighter.
I had to cut a small rectangular hole at the back of the sunglass box to make it fit and be able to close the lid.
Yakko,
If your MD Head U. has AUX inputs, then you are able to hook up the XM receiver. If not, you will have to get one of those AUX input adapters that acts like an FM modulator.

hey cybrpunk...
you can essentially hard wire your xm radio, check out what I did, because I had to use the cassette adapter one for the exact same reason!
1. Radio Shack has replacement cigarette lighters that come prewired.
2. Plug your XM cig lighter attachment into this. Tuck it behind the glovebox or console or wherever
3. Run the lead and the ground from the Radio Shack lighter to your stock lighter.
4. Splice two wires.
5. And there you go, you have your cig socket free again, and your XM install appears extremely clean

Cool! That's exactly what I was thinking of doing right after I wrote my last post. Thanks for the info. By the way, how much was the second cigerette lighter?

Where did you guys mount the antenna. I want to get XM but need to be sure that it will work if I mount the atenna on the rear deck. Either that or I have to come up with another location. Really don't want it on the top of the roof.

Holy balls dude! you didn't have to mount the antenna outside? Does that keep a reliable connection?
This will have me sold on XM as long as I can keep that ugly antenna off the outside of my car.

Yup! That's exactly where I mounted mine up. That antenna is too big to mount on the roof. I'm actually going to get the Terk SR2 antenna and have it painted to match the color of my celica. Once I get it painted I will mount it on the roof.
I put the Sony antenna on the roof just for looks and my damn car looked like a shark on wheels.
Thanks for the cig. light info.

the signal is fine. and this particular unit has a 4 second buffer built in, so that if you're traveling under a bridge, you don't lose reception because of the satellite being blocked. Also, I have the home kit option as well. Don't tell Sony, XM, or the RIAA, but I have it hooked up to my Audigy Platinum, just in case a song catches my ear :D

Thanks for the photos. I guess if the inside antenna works I will have to look into this. What did you guys pay for the reciever and antenna? I have an alpine XM ready head unit, but their reviever is like 400 and another 100 for the antenna. Is sony's cheaper?
