i had a picture of it but i cant find it, but ive seen where someone paints that black plastic that is designed to keep sun off the gauges. how would i go about doing this? would i need to sand it first? prime it? clear cloat? what kind of paint to use? would this look good?

(too many questions....)

thx

i didnt sand.. just some coats of primer, some coats of paint, and some coats of clear coat. i also did some sanding between some of the primer and paint coats

well i can't really answer the question, but my advice would be to take it to a shop. i'm not sure if this is the ONLY piece you want done, but it shouldn't cost much at all for a shop to do professionally. and they can make it match your car or whatever and clearcoat it and all.

I hate to say it cuz I did it myself and it does look good, but I'd recommend finding a shop to take care of it.
Simply because I ended up spending just the same amount of money on sprays as I would've just taking it in.....

is a body shop the type of shop that you are talking about? and how much you think it would cost?

Listen this really isn't a tough project. Like SUps said. U could lightly sand it first (doesnt' really matter). i primered mine first. waited 15 mins or so and primered again. 15 mins later added some coats of paint with about 30 mins in between each coat. My car is specta blue and i did mine white. Don't waste ur money on a prof. job for that sh!tty piece of plastic. Use engine enamal with i high heat tolerance since its in your dash where there'll be a lot of heat in the summer. i just used normal spray paint with i high gloss and that had a good heat tolerance. It'll cost ya just over $5 for the 2 cans of paint. Sorry, no pics yet. Just did it a few weeks ago.

Oh and i didn't use a clear coat. It's good enough with the glossy paint. I've also heard of some people waxing theirs like their cars to keep it nice looking.

i did the same as sponsorshipthisway, ive painted some of my interior the same way, other than the guages (a-pillars, doors, working on the dash)
