I dont think w/OBDII scanner you can pass OBDII inspection even if you clear the CEL light the codes are still inthe memory
but if you have turbo you must be running apexi PFC or Emanage arent you?

you can buy them at walmart. Do they do tailpipe tests though? I dont think you will pass unless you pay someone for a sticker.

i know you can erase some codes by unplugging the battery (negative side i think, just dont unplug the pink side) let it sit like that for like 10 min, put it back on, start your car and let it sit idle for another 10.

I hope to God your car isn't really turbo if you're running a S-AFC...
Talk to jlitman, he can steer you to what you want.

i tried the unplugging the battery method, but the shop i go to detect the sensors being reset and won't pass me.
what else can i do.
what is NY's emission test procedure?

sometimes rich sometimes lean
random cylinder misfire, but that is ok now.
In NYS, if your check engine light is on, you automaticlly Fail emissions.
Even if you clear the codes with a scanner it takes time for the ecu to reset. You can pass smog in NY with a turbo. They just check the OBDII and if it's clean then you pass.

i got a cheapo ob2 scanner from wal*mart, it was something like $68. a lot easier than having a stealership check it out or having to bug autozone for a freebie...

if your current CEL is for too rich or too lean reset the ecu and tune for minimal fuel trims that will not trigger the CEL and try staying off boost until you get it inspected.

search ebay for obdII scanner. they are normally serial for computer but most new laptops dont have serial so u can get serial-usb adapter. there is some decent free software out there

I would think that pretty much all of it works the same, with the exception of a couple advantages in software.
