View Full Version : Oh crap! My friend got caught doing 120MPH in a 55MPH

It was 3am, the road was empty and we were feeling stupid. My buddy was doing 120MPH and I flew by at 130MPH+ when the cop lights came on. By the time I saw the lights, my buddy was already pulled over. I headed home hoping he would be OK.
Finally he calls me up and meets up at my house. The cop let him go with an excessive speeding ticket. He put down 120 in 55 and told my friend he had to go to court. Usually that is a wreckless driving and off to jail. :(
Any advice would be appreciated.

Maybe if enough of us say he should get a lawyer, someone will finally listen.
He should get a lawyer.
Odds are he can't make it go away, but he will probably be able to plead it to something much more managable.

seriously, i'm surprised he didn't get taken to jail for this. what the hell were you guys thinking??? if you guys are ever doing this again and see a cop don't slow down, try and outrun the him (granted you will probably go to jail if caught) but if you get away it will be all worth it won't it? that's if you don't kill yourself or someone else in the process

Static it is Luc. :( We were heading South on I94. I was following for most of the way, which is why the cop pulled him over and not me. I am just shocked he was not handcuffed and taken to jail. A lawyer is definitely in the works.
A SC'd Camry can do more than 135MPH but it is governed at 135MPH. Anyway, I won't be driving that fast for the longest time.

Update. My friend already got his license back. He went to the police station and told them it was about to expire and he needed it back. Surprisingly they have it to him.

Step #1 Lawyer
Step #2 Radar detector
Step #3 Have some big dude pick him up by his feet, flip him upside down and shake the stupidity out of him

I am sure a V6 Camry can do 130+ ... once i was trying to go fast with my girlfriend's '97 Camry XLE V6, i did 135 mph then i slowed down... and what surprised me was that it was still very quiet and stable even under that speed.

What would a lawyer possibly be able to do? This is something that looks bad no matter what...I don't get how a lawyer will help matters any. Anyways, it is stupid to do something like that, I learned that when I got pulled over and almost got a ticket for speeding (I was 10 over the speed limit in a 50 mph zone).

how exactly will it be worth? guy got off with a ticket, now ur telling him that he should have run the cop? interesting... he would go to the jail for a while if he did that and got cought...
I fail to see the reasoning behind that

in a situation i know of a man got a lawyer and got off easy cause the cop didnt have hm clocked and could only give him a warning for going over the speedlimit...the cop didnt have any proof that he was speeding so he couldnt give him a ticket just a warning
First of all if you get a lawyer you can actually get that ticket knocked down to something a lot better say maybe a 10+ or something you never know. I got pulled over doing 60+ in a 25 (yeah i was dumb) and i got a excessive speed and got off with a 10 over fine after i got a lawyer.....
MAO!!!! I hereby step down as being super ghey and hand over my title to your friend... and you :) for going so fast..... shame on you both :)
