Ok, this is not new celica related. It is just a question i have for all those turbo fanatics that know a lot. I am planning on getting a 1g-gte engine from japan for my old celica. But i think it runs on 101 octance gas from japan, or something similar. So if i put in 91 or 92 octane from here in washington, will i need to get an ignition retarding system? or an octane booster? and if i do retard the ignition timing, will i get a dramatic power loss? I just dont wanna have to put in a 5 dollar bottle of octane booster every time i fill up.... Thank you for your time if you read this post.

chances are if it runs 101 even octane booster wont help... i'm gonna scan a picture in showing the difference between pump gas here in the US and japan

octane boost wont help.. if you figure you fill your tank with at most 94 octane and put in one thing of 100.. your prolly gonna end up with 95 octane throughout the tank.. thats a rough math figure but you should get the point.. youd need to mix alot of high octane gas with 94 to get 101..

If it requires 101 RON then you would probably need about 95 in our measurement R+M/2.
