View Full Version : Spring Designs for Super Strut and normal MacPherson Strut Suspensions

Hello!

Does anybody know if there ought to be huge differences in the design and performance of springs between those made for the normal MacPherson struts (GTS) and the Super struts?

I live in New Zealand where Celica isn't such a common blessing. Whatever aftermarket parts that aren't in stock usually cost a lot to order since shops in here cannot justify importing in great quantities.

Like the USDM we do not offer Celica with SuperStrut as brand new vehicles, in fact it's a little worse (or better?) here since we only have the 1 and only model - the GTS equivalent (or SS-II normal MacPherson strut in JDM terms).

I have contacted the official TEIN distributor for NZ and they are suggesting the S.TECH springs model SKY22-S1B00 for Toyota Celica (GTS equivalent). This is the only Celica S.TECH spring model that they offer here, but through some research within the Japanese TEIN (http://www.tein.co.jp) website I found the supplied model number as one made specifically for the JDM SuperStrut suspension Celica.

My question is.. If I purchased these springs that were designed for the Super Strut Celica, should they theoratically work fine on the normal MacPherson strut Celica's (as the NZ TEIN distributor claims)?

Thanks in advance, and hopefully some of you suspension gurus can shed some light on this one :wiggle:
