Finally got someone over to answer my questions after like 5 months! Stock Celica GT Auto Tranny's can hold 6 PSI or 200fwhp. If you goto Level 10 they guarentee a 1/2 - 1 second increase in 1.4 mile time and it will be able to hold 450fwph. They increase the stall rate and you will be able to neutral drop when racing.
Total Cost they told me...
$3200 for the PTS Tranny system
$480 High Performance Torque Converter
That would be one fast arsh Celica and it also allows more HP to flow through the wheels giving you better all around HP.

Level 10 told you you would be able to neutral drop?

So if I got the torque converter, not the whole transmission, I would be able to neutral drop without hurting my car?

You're right, you do have to sent in your stock converter for them to rebuild it.

Sam is a really cool guy. That's who I picked up the TC from. He was great to work with and always willing to help. If anyone is looking for a GT-S torque converter contact me at my shop and I'll arrange for a Level 10 TC for you.

SO do we have to send out TC in to them or we just order one from them?

Just to see how far behind the times I was in this regard I contacted Sam. His response was absolutely no neutral drops, powerbraking only. :wtf:

Powerbraking?
i thought you only had to send in the TC so they can fit it properly. i wonder how long it would take them to do it...Dark did they mention that? 450 is not that bad considering the performance improvement.
anyone: would it be hard to remove the TC from the vehicle? maybe over a long weekend it can be done...
thanks dark for getting the info! :)

Power Braking-- Holding the break pedal and accelerator at the same time to load up with torque on the converter. In the auto GTS is about 2000 rpms and then letting you brake go which gives you a little bit of a jump off the line.

Dark Star I will find out exactly what we can get from them.
Richard
some powerbrake cutoff for gt. part of the TC's advantages is powerbraking above that as Dark mentioned...

So what does the PTS system do over stock? I thought that the TC was the part that allowed you to power brake higher and shifts quicker. Does the PTS system just reinforce and thus allowing the system to handle more power?

Yep. The PTS system allows up to 450hp and will let more power get to the wheels.

Geesh the PTS system cost an arm and a leg and a turbo. I guess its a must have for us auto owners...what does the PTS system consist of? I'm sorry if the question has been asked.

If I did get a TC, would I need a tranny cooler?

Check with Level 10, higher stalls normally mean higher heat.

yeah they sell ATF coolers, and it's usually recommended for an overall tranny rebuild.
the PTS system is a set of clutches, disks, bands, rings, gaskets, etc. that are tougher than stock. a shop drains the ATF, pulls the tranny, takes it apart, replaces all the parts. puts a new torque converter in (and if you got the valve body recalibration, you ship your valve body in to get that done). puts it back in, hooks up the ATF cooler, fills it up with ATF. and is done.
they say it'll take over 400-500hp like that.
those of you who talk to sam might want to ask him about the whole fuss with the Supra owners. is Pat still around? basically Pat told them that their rebuilt tranny(s) can take 600-800+hp and the trannys didn't make it to over 600 and blew up in spectacular fashion. so they all use Sound Performance transmissions now, and i've seen 1000+hp auto supras running sub-10 second times as a result. when Sound Performance checked out the blown tranny(s) it looked like nothing was done but increased line pressure (i.e, their rebuild service is BS).
however, their PARTS are fine. torque converters, atf coolers, and valve body recalibrations should all be fine. i'm curious about their transmission KIT. it's $1200 and is all the clutches/rings/bands/etc. from the tranny rebuild but shipped to you in a box so you can get it rebuilt yourself. i'd like someone to look at those and verify if they are strong as advertised and if replacing those parts will result in higher power numbers.

Next Monday I'll be dropping my car off to get my TC worked on. I'm also getting a truck tranny cooler to cool off the extra heat. They said that theres an unusually large amount of room to fit one in there. Its all going to cost a grand... Can anyone suggest a stall speed? Thanks.
