I dont know how many people in here really knows about trucks... but well, I still think I can trust some of you :gap:

Here is the thing.

I just created a construction company in the area of Maryland and I would like to purchase a really good pick up truck.

The thing is that I trust Toyota because of the miles per gallon and reliability, my brother in law wants a Ford because of their tow capabilities, my father in law likes the power of the dodge trucks, and my wife wants a Honda just to mess with us.

So, I would like to know which is the best truck company all around. Or which model is the best one?

Towing capacity.
Engine.
Etc

Ford. Dodge. Chevy. either one will do the job.

edit: neither truck made for towing will get excellent gas mileage, dont get hopes on that, but any domestic truck can last many, many miles.

Your lucky because the best truck made is the Toyota Tundra. Except if you're poor. A new Tundra will out-tow an F150 any day of the week. the 5.7l V8 can tow 10300 pounds and has a payload capacity of 1650 pounds.

Any place to have or check that information?

If not, how about the loading capacity against Ford?

F-150 5.4L Triton V8 has a towing capacity of 10,500 lbs vs. the Tundra's 10,800 and a payload capacity of 3020 lbs vs. the Tundra's 2065 - plus with Ford you can bump up to the F-250 or F-350 superduperdiesels that make 9 million lbs of torque, and about 10 million if you chip them.

Meh, I'd actually feel comfortable driving the Toyota to work. My theory of pickup trucks:

Toyota, Honda, Nissan: Boss trucks
Ford, Chevy, GMC, Dodge: Worker trucks

GMT900 Silverado or a Tundra, can't go wrong with either one.

The Ridgeline is not a truck. It is a mini van with a different body.

Out of all of those, honestly, any one with the turbo diesel would be my pick - better fuel economy and a buttload more power - I'm not ****ting when i say the torque is in the 500-600 lb-ft range - STOCK.

I would take a Tundra over any pick-up on the market. Quality Toyota build, and good (enough) performance. Better looks, IMO, than the others.

more expensive

once you factor in the incentives and the fact that you can buy them at invoice, you're looking at a $10,000 + difference between a domestic and an import truck

If you get a tundra it's gotta be the new ones. They are an awesome leap up from the past ones. If you don't than I would get a Dakota Quadcab with the 8ft bed, nice magnum 5.7

If you're going to be towing anything you should get a 03+ Cummins diesel Dodge Ram Dually with a six speed. It'll be the most stable, haul better than any gasoline powered truck, and get the best fuel mileage when towing heavy. Not to mention it'll outlast any gasoline powered truck as well.

I would have liked to get the tundra, but the idea of loading only 2000 pounds instead of 300 that a F150 can load made me really think if I should buy a 8000 more expensive truck that will make me go twice to pick up all the stone I need.

I knew that some people here would be able to help me :gap:

Thanks.
KAT.

PS: I will probably go for the f150, since I want it to load material more than to look nice. The bad thing is that v8 trucks are all automatic right?

Thx again.

I'm a little bias though seeing as I would get a crazy discount that would off-set almost half of that $10,000 mark up that you mentioned (working for the biggest supplier to Toyota).

So where the hell is the Titan in all of this? Best bang for the buck out there right now.

You're not familiar with trucks are you?
Ford trucks regularly go 250,000+ miles without a hitch
Turbo diesel engines are literally indestructible - hell, any diesel engine will last an eternity (that's why you still see those beat ass old Mercedes rolling around, and that's why big rigs and heavy duty trucks tend to be diesel, as they get a lot of miles)

Reliability is NOT an issue with American trucks - and its not even really an issue with American cars anymore - their quality levels are average these days, they've really turned that around - the problem is consumer perception, and the fact that most American cars are still giant pieces of **** in terms of driving dynamics and interiors.

So where the hell is the Titan in all of this? Best bang for the buck out there right now.

The Titan used to be the baddest mofo on the block but its been eclipsed by the new F-150, Silverado, and Tundra

When I was selling them we had to learn all about towing capacity, payload capacity etc and Nissan educated us so that we knew the Titan was the most capable truck on the market when it first came out - the other manufacturers just responded and stepped up their game.

I forgot which magazine recently had a truck comparo, but it went something like this:
1. Toyota Tundra
2. Nissan Titan
3. Chevrolet Silverado
4. Ford F-150
5. Dodge Ram Hemi

I believe that the titan does not load as much as the ford... but I really DONT understand the specs for towing and load!!!

The more I look at them, the more weird they get...

Only trucks worth owning are turbo diesel .... F250SD, F350SD or a Dodge with a Cummings in it ... I think even the Duramax have been pretty good as of late.
