View Full Version : Cylinderblock rattle noise a common defect?

After an oil change few days... I notice a rattle noise coming from the cylinder block. It's not the tensioner or belt related.

It is a sound similar to a noise heard when you shake a spray paint bottle. I usually warm up the car for 3 minutes before taking off so those who do not warm-up the car might not be aware of it if it does occur.
I've heard it during morning warm-up on an off. Or sometimes after I pull into the garage after work before turining off the engine I get outside and listen closely and will hear it.
The noise comes and goes. It sounds as if some plastic pebble is loose inside. Anyone experience this?

I think everyones does this both the GT and GTS. Mine has done it from day one.

ya, i think my car makes the exact same sound. Like u said, it sounds like the metal ball in a can of spray paint bouncing around. I was worried that it was the result of bent valves, but I'm not really sure what that would sound like. Not much i can do about it... if it blows up i'll have the dealer replace it =)

I have the same noise. It seems to go away after some driving though.

This morning during warm up. the noise wasn't there
but the spray can noise bugs me.
I never made a misshift.

this makes me feel much better
I just bought my car last week and started noticing it
I thought I'd broken something
It feels kind of mean running it to the redline and I thought it got mad at me for doing it so much.
