I was looking up the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times of different cars on www.car-stats.com when i noticed that on the site the 2000 celica GT-S is a ****load faster than the 2001.
0-60 on the 2000 is 6.6
0-60 on the 2001 is 7.3
1/4 mile on the 2000 is 15.2
1/4 mile on the 2001 is 15.5
I didnt think there was any difference in the 2000 and 2001, but there is a difference in the 2002. Am i wrong? is the site wrong?
Is my 2001 GT-S slower than if i got it a year earlier?
Does anyone know? Thanks in advance.

I am not sure about this, but I remember reading somewhere that the late model 2001 had the changed-out ecu and transmission. Again I am not sure if this is true but could explain the difference depending on when they got the test car.
Another possibility is that they had different drivers doing the testing. Maybe the first driver was simply a better driver.

I sure hope the difference is in the driver. Does anyone know for sure if they changed anything on the car between 2000 and 2001? I know that they changed the ecu and rev limiter for the 2002 model but I didnt think this affected the 2001.

aside from stiffer shifter springs, and a couple little things that resolved a few problems with the early 00+ production run, an early '01 should be the same as the '00. Towards the end of the '01 production run, it did get the wider shift gate I believe. Dunno about the limiter.

Um, it's just different magazine times. It has nothing to do with anything any shift gates or whatever else at all. Just different crappy magazine times, all loaded into the same place, if you base buying a car on the times on that site, you need to buy a pinto.

Nope, they did make the '02 changes (tranny, ECU) in the middle of the '01 production year. Someone posted the month it happened sometime in the last week or so. I'll see if I can find the post.
EDIT:
Found it:
http://newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20928
It was Griffin. He said the change took place in either April or May 2001.

Please do Bomber, I don't remember anyone mentioning the shift gates or the cutoff until the 02 was out, could be wrong on that though. It wasn't until later that there were comments about late 01 models having the changes.
PS - Because someone posted it doesn't mean it is accurate. :)

Well someone with the lower rev limmiter look at your production date. See if there is anyone with a post may or april and go drive. I can't since mine is a 2000, but I would love to see what happens.
