I don't know who or how, but that was a great idea with the climate control area. Looks good and you still have all the emblems for the controls. I have been tooling with this idea too, but didn't know what to do with that area.
From what I have heard, its best to sand down with a fine grit paper and then at least two coats each of primer, paint and clear coat. I think to be safe I would do three of each! Just my .02

They just masked it off with vinyl or masking tape before it was painted. Definitely done by a shop. You can just go to a shop and ask them to mask off the climate control area. I'm sure they'll be able to do it for you if you ask.

who here has that done in white...
I know someone has a white celi and did theirs in white...
I've been thinking about doing this... anyone know who it was? :)

Working with a paint shop, you can also easily pull that entire section off with a few turns of the socket wrench and some pulling. That way you can drive home while they work. That type of work can be thrown in as a freebie many times with other paint work, say a bodykit or a hood (from rock chip damage, etc).

I got mine done from a body shop here in Des Moines Ice. Why dont you come down to Des Moines and they can do it for you. Really cheap.

there's my dash...... i designed vinyl overlay to hide the climate parts..... and i bring it ready to paint to my body shop.. the results are amazing!!

Geez Karl...that looks tight. Is it hard to clean your engine bay. I am thinking of painting mine white to match my rims but is hesitant since it maybe so hard to clean.

no it's easy..... it's the same paint as car....... so it's easier to clean that dumb plastic unpainted............ really mush easier than my white rims ;) :p

mine's done in a white satin so it doesn't blind ya when the sun hits it... it's not done as nice as GT2000Quebec though...thats tight

oh yeah.. and my next mod........ vinyl overlay for the text on my engine plastic to put it back red ;) it will be tight as hell :) :)

f.y.i. the guy at my local shop said that you cant use sandpaper for the dash, you have to use scotchbrite. i dunno..?

Actually it just looks black in the pictures but it is actually Carbon Blue. You should see it in person sometime Iceit69
