Hey guys whats up?Im new to the board so Im just introducin myself cuz I know Ill be on here alot. I recently sold my 91 MR2 turbo to my dad (hes 62 and was always jealous of it) in order to purchase a newer "eco" car.(I live in Wash and drive bout 45 miles to college...mr2s arent the best for this) My family is a Toyota family (moms got an 03 corolla, dads got an 05 Tundra, and my older sis drives an 06 rav 4) so naturally I decided on a celica and after parting with my Mr2 (quite sad) I had enough money to pick up a celica and yesterday I finally bought a 00' GTS.

Silver with black leather,6 speed of course(never owned an auto) 89,000 miles (kinda high I know) but it had every option including side airbags which i liked...best part was talked the dealer down from 11,500 to 8,800 because it was missin the trunk carpet and was on a spare due to someone slashin the rear tire while on the lot. My first reactions to driving the car were that its deff not as fast as my mr2, but ill be damned if its not just as fun. Plus I notice way more girls lookin over from thier civics to check it out... alot more than my MR (more puss is always a plus in my book)

THE NEW CELICA (bad pic...taken with my 2mp camera)

So far the only thing done to the celi is my old 17s I took off the MR2. But Im the kinda guy who does all work himself (try learnin cars on a mid engine) so Ill deff be on here alot.So if theres anyone else livin in WA (I live in Kitsap County) hit me up cuz I sure dont know anyone around here with a celi....besides the hot girls that go to my school :)

PEACE,
JOEL

Welcome!!! Although many might see the Celica as a down-grade, it's always a good idea to go out and drive around a newer and more reliable car  if you have any questions, ask away! What are your plans for the Celica? Show, go, or a mix of both?

Thanks guys...Yea im deffinitly all about the go. Im sure Ill do some visual stuff here and there but a cars speed is way more important to me than the looks...you can tell by my old stock lookin mr2 sportin aroun 220 to the wheel. Is there anyone else in WA with a celi thats into tuning?

All right, another fellow new member!

Oh gosh memory lane! my brother and I shared a 1991 MKII MR2 as well. Difference was that it had a T top and an awesome shade of red. First car I learned stick in (not too beginner friendly fyi). And had quite a few maintenance issues. How much were you able to sell the mr2 for? Resale value is pretty sweet.

I feel ya about first feeling like the Celica was a down-grade. Just recently I have come to embrace it =D It's really nice to have 4 seats =p

haha, the guys over at celicatech.com would have been heartbroken to see the mr2 go for a '00 GT-S...but the '00 one ftw

thats a nice looking mr2...and the rarer sunroof insead of t-tops, I would be devastaded if I had that and had to give it up. But hey a 00 celica isn't a bad compromise as a commuter:) Good pick up.

which is why I can't stand that place...

The 2nd gen MR2's can turn out pretty sweet with the right work done to them. I'd like to get my hands on one some day.

Yea trust me I had to hold back the tears when I gave away the keys...luckily its just goin to my dad so Ill be able to drive it when the urge comes...Quick question, my new celi has a factory alarm but the previous owner lost the remote and hadnt gotten a new one yet. When I went online to order a new one, it asks if the origional remote had a led light on it(RS3200 vs. RS)3000 I hate to sound stupid but how can I figure out which remote I need?

Welcome! 8k sounds about right due to the missing parts & all... I bought mine also around 89k on it & was changed from 11,000 to 9,000, it's a GT-S 6spd. with everything like yours... I was about to get an MR2 Turbo for performance and be my first car, but ever since the 7th gen. celica appeared, that totally changed my mind on getting that instead of the MR2 :D
