okay amsoil users. im going to be changing my fluids..engine and tranny with amsoil tommorrow. my question is...how often do i need to change the oil and gear lube? i usually change my oil ever 3-3500 with synthetic and 6-7k with the synthectic manual tranny fluid. will i need to do that with amsoil??

I use Amsoil Series 2000 tranny fluid and oil. I change the oil every 2500 to 3000 and the tranny every 10,000.

Hey all,
I use Series 2000 0W-30 all year and run it at least 6500-7000 miles.
Justification for this is not far off, you "CAN" theorettically run this stuff for 25k.
My dad does in all his vehicles, the corolla has 275k on it, and it' doesn't seem to mind.
Anyways justification for the higher miles and such can be seen here:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=100060
You will plainly see that many Maxima and other owners are running this stuff to 10-15k with no problems, and independant tests prove it.

Hey guys, if you're going to change your synthetics at less than 10K miles, you can do better price-wise than the Series 2000 oil, and still get good protection.
That oil was designed for drain intervals upto 35,000 miles or 1 year. There are 2 other options, one is 7500 miles / 6 months, the other is 25,000 / 1 year. Both will be close to $2 less per quart! You can get an oil analysis to show how long the oil should last in your particular car...
By the way, you can get Amsoil from me at a significant discount vs. retail price... Just email me: krismatt100@hotmail.com

Purchase an oil analysis kit
Do your usual oil change.
Send in a sample of the oil for analysis. That should indicate to you how many miles you can extend the oil change to.
When you extend it, don't forget to change your oil filter every 3000 miles, and top the level with fresh oil.

If you use a high quality oil filter (and there are plenty out there), you should only need to change the filter every 6 months. You can change it more often, but you don't need to. Amsoil recommends changing the filter at 12,500 / 6 months with their extended (25K/35K) oils - BUT you gotta use a good one - not a crappy fram or whatever...
