Hello,

I have been reading these boards for quite awhile and now I have decided to make a name for myself and post here. Right now I don't have a Celica but I am looking for a Spectra Blue GT-S.
Celica's Rule :)

Yeah, I don't intend on getting an auto. First I need to learn how to drive a stick though. The problem is that no one in my family knows how except for my dad but he hasn't drivin a stick for awhile. Anyway, is it hard to learn how to drive a stick on your own? I know the technique but I have never tried it.

once ur dad gets back into a stick car....he will regain his skilllz.....then it's up to u to learn to drive it.....don't worry it will be hard at first but it will take a couple or days, week or so for u to learn it.....i learned to drive stick on my new car too....i stalled a couple of time (ok many) on the street but when i got used to getting off the cluch....it was mad ill....the feeling is like no other....i still get a rush when i get into my car...and i have it for about 8 months now:D

Yeah I'm pretty sure I can learn how to drive a stick quickly. I just hope I don't mis-shift. I will probably be getting the Celica next year after all the snow melts in March.

werd of edvice, DO NOT race/speed until u learn how to drive ur car.....learn how each gear feels and where it's located first and fo most......trust me, u don't want to hear the sound of ur car when it misshifts at high rpm....been there done that (my friend misshifted while i was in the car)..my car has been fine since the blown engine but on and off i needed new stuff cuz of the rebuilted engine:(

one more piece of edvice......DO NOT let other ppl drive ur car:mad: .......i hope i don't scare u off but don't take ur car for granted...be careful w/ it:p

I know the technique but I have never tried it. You have to know someone that knows how to drive a stick. I didn't know how until I got my MR2. It only took me a week or so to learn. It's not as hard as learning to drive. The auto GTS sucks.

Yeah, third is great, but just make sure that the next gear you select really is fourth, not second. ;)

As everyone else has stated. The 6-spd is the way to go. You will love the transmission, and the cam switch over at 6K rpm. As for learning on manual. It's not that bad. You said you know the general technique. It's not much more than what you already know. 1st and reverse is your main concern. When you have mastered those two gears of how to start and reverse, you will have it. Make sure your beginning test is in a open parking lot or somewhere safe to test your skills. Have fun and be safe.
