Ok.. I'm trying to increase my handling in my celica. I am new to suspension but, my question is when lowering my car should I buy struts & springs at the same time because I think i read correctly that your shocks will go if you install springs when their stock. Is this correct?
Also, what do you advise for handling? I have a APR Strut Bar at the moment.
Thank you.

What kind of goals do you have for handling? Just want it ot be fun on the street or are you thinking of competing in Autocross or taking your car to the track?
Street: I suggest KYB AGX or GR-2s with Tein S-techs or Hotchkis.
Autocross/light track: Koni Yellow and Ground control sleeve with custom spring rates.
Most coilovers sold nowadays are garbage, there are good ones (Penske, KW, Moton) but be prepared to pay.

if you have the money get springs/struts at the same time. This just prevents having to do the same work twice. If you are on a budget just get some springs now and replace the struts/shocks when they blow out.

Get spring, after that get shock, so you will have alignment 2 times, what a waste??? My opinion is saving money to get the shock and spring at the same time, so you will save on alignment and labor.
