I was talking to them, and they said it will give the GT's a 2 second decrease on the track. They said they ran a GT manual with 7 psi and it ran a 14.7 and he said the conditions were bad. I purchasing the turbo next week.

when i go to the track I see every GT run 16.0 -16.5 no faster then that. and you payed alot of for a gt-s and we will be less for the GT and it will be alot faster then a gt-s. thats only with 5-6 psi. thats not alot.

i don't know who the hell is behind the wheel of those cars but they should be pulled out and beaten like a thai hooker. besides that i could care less what someone else does in their car i KNOW the GT can hit low 15's with bolt on's and look what Joe has done...14.7's out of a GT. I don't care what he had to do it. point is he did it and no one has beaten that time N/A.

We'll Turbo performance still owes me a turbo manifold....! It was supposed to arrive on thursday and today is saturday.....The guy is always telling me excuses of how it was not shipped correctly, delay in manufact, UPS turned back the packg.....blah,bla,bla,,...etc.......It's been a month since I ordered a simple HONDA d-16 manifold....they already charged it to my credit but still no goods here..! I'll tell you guys YOU have to be carefull....! it's not that this will happen to you but I'm thinking if this is my experience with my project Honda (most popular engine D-16) Imagine what I might go through with my Baby the celica......I was planning to buy the kit but, now after this people BS'ng me I don't know.......

Take care...be carefull.....

first off, just because they added alot of power to the car doesnt guarentee 2 ful seconds off the ET.. thats all driver, tuning and did I mention driver??

Also the thing you all are forgetting and I seriously cant wait for a Turbo Celica on here so I can finally have someone who understands is TRACTION.. the more power you have, the less traction youll have.. I only make about 280 to the wheels right now and my car is 2900lbs+.. yours is 2500lbs, all I do is spin and spin and spin.. something to keep in mind..

Traction problems can be stopped with the proper suspension and tires.... wont fix it 100%, but defiantly helps.
Lower your self and get some sticky tires and you should be all right.
Its all in the launch and the tires for the most part, well at least in my experience.
But all in all I do agree that traction will be a sure foe for our cars vs FI.

but even suspension mods cant help when u get to a certain point.. trust me, I have a full suspension and Kuhmo Ecsta's which are known to be sticky tires

with a tread rating of 300 i dont think they're very sticky...
if you want sticky tires stick to 150 or so
i spin my tires in 3rd with the kuhmo's every time(not good)

a very good article about tires was in SCC for all you guys.. basically says if you wanna go fast at the track get slicks but here's hopin to yer drivetrain ;)

but good tires on the street help out a lot too.
im not saying the kuhmo's are bad(i have them) but the arent as sticky compaired to the stockers.

larryd
05-27-2002, 02:50 AM
you think the stock Celica tires are stickier then the Kuhmo's?? I dont know the tread rating on both tires but just my general opinion is the Kuhmo's are sticker.. regardless Im not impressed with them on the track.. I want to use slicks but I know Ill break my differential and its not worth it to me

X-EVIL-X
05-27-2002, 03:02 AM
yeah the stockers are stickier.
the thread rating on the yoko's was like 150 and these are 300 which wear not nearly as fast but are less sticky.
like the nitto 550's(i think), they last forever but arent a sticky tire(300 thread wear rating also).

larryd

yeah the nittos suck balls.. i had them on my Celica.. its been soo long since i had the Yoko's I dont even remember how I did with em.. My Eclipse came with Michelin Pilots.. blah.. anything seems better :)

try some Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position and you'll change your mind about the kuhmo's
there not cheap though

larryd
05-27-2002, 03:33 AM
nah, next set of street tires will be Falken Azenis.. cheap and effective for what i want em to be for.. not sure if BFG drag radials would be worth it for the track or not

ok...FWD cars lose traction because off the launch, all the weight is transferred to the rear wheels...aka the nose rises, and the rear dips. same reason RWD cars get better traction off the launch.

what i was wondering is why they don't make front/back sway bars. standard sway bars help reduce body roll, and put more pressure on the inside tires during a corner. so the same idea would apply off the line. with a front/back sway bar, wouldn't it put extra pressure on the front tires, therefore helping traction?

larryd

i think they do, they make traction bars but ive been told they dont help out much

oh ok...ithanks. worth a shot at least. how bout instead you just run it in reverse? that'd solve your traction problems. ;)

or i could just convert my car to AWD, that would solve my problems
