Still finishing up the R&D it will be available soon. i want to have complete kits ready to go. im not going to take $$$ first and use that to buy materials and get stuck in a hole like SF did...ill have a final price after everything is talllied up

Nice numbers for a rough tune Smaay. 13 should be fine as long as you're not getting knock. I'd probably put more fuel in after lift kicks in though since it's harder to hear/detect knock at that point.

Is that your BOV mounted to the side of the intercooler? Never seen a setup like that before...
Good work, it'll be awesome to see once the tuning is more dialed in.

Great numbers.. You do need to wash your poor car though :D
Maybe it just looks dirty from the angle the pics were taken at.
Is there any advantage to having the bov next to the intercooler? I'm curious as to why you did this...

wadda u mean dirty. it was so clean id eat of it....
as for the BOV. there really is no gain or loss. i did it for stealth...under the hood it looks like a CAI

You must have some pretty stupid people look at your car to miss the giant intercooler in the front :chuckles:
As for stealth, I like the location of the BOV on the XS kit. Although with the TRD front end, I did have to have the BOV moved a few inches to clear the fog light.

looks like a standard SF style intercooler, the couple of SF kits i've seen in person for the GT-S have had the BOV's in the same location.

I know for a fact that celicapunker's SF kit (Mrtomcat's old kit) has the BOV right there, i worked on it like 2 weeks ago.

There are quite a few people out there with the bov on the intercooler. As boardernr said celipunker has his on the intercooler. I think the bov placement changed from by the mafs on the 00-01 kits, like mine, (whoever came up with that idea should have been kicked in the face) to the intercooler or right by the intercooler on the more recent kits. The kits that dont have the adjustable fpr basically. I also remember you could pick the location of the bov if you specified, because some have theirs by the cruise control module.

04-18-2007, 12:01 PM
I think that Frau also had the BOV there on his old SF kit.
Boosted2.0
04-18-2007, 01:44 PM
Yeah - SF moved it down there after all the problems with the MAF readings beign inconsistent as hell on the early kits. I had him put it there on mine just to hide it. Out of sight out of mind. Whats cool is that odd looking thing on mine is actually an HKS SSQV minus the cosmetic plastic shroud

Technically, you want the BOV as close to the throttle as possible to maximize is sensitivity and effectiveness. That's certainly why Stafford put it there on the early kits. Unfortunately, the MAFS forces you to make some compromises in BOV location.
I've noticed that my BOV located on the c-shaped pipe coming out of the intercooler (basically the same location as a CAI filter) is not as sensitive as I'd like it to be.

Beautiful. I was just talking to a friend of mine last night that bought the same brake kit. Wish I could afford something like that. But I'm 23 and still in college so I have plenty of time for stuff like that. :)

I have found that running a good diameter hard line helped get my response on the BOV improved considerably.

When you say "good diameter" do you mean big or small? I suppose that running the BOV off of that tiny nipple on the manifold wouldn't allow you to evacuate the top chamber of the BOV very quickly... I hadn't thought of that before.
I'm going to be reworking my vac lines a bit to add in the check valve to the EVAP system. Maybe teeing of the EVAP purge port and capping the mini-nipple would be a better source of vacuum for the BOV?

just curious, but would it be possible to move the maf up a little closer to the throttle body? that way you could be able to move the bov closer to throttle as well.

Also food for thought.. on my alltrac the AFM is on the turbo inlet pipe between the turbo inlet and air filter. What pro/con would there be in having it there as opposed to locating it after the intercooler? Or are they located differently because of the difference in the sensors? AFM vs. MAF

Larger diameter. I take mine off a 3/8 inch nipple on the back of my intake and it is a dedicated line that feeds ONLY the BOV. Its got enough hose to handle flex from the manifold to the hard line and then 3/8" hard line all the way to about 2" away from the BOV where I use a rubber line again.
If I were setting yours up I would use the big line comming off the intake for the EVAP purge and run that to it.

If you put it on the turbo inlet side you have to have a recirculation system for the blowoff - you can't vent to atmosphere or the car gets horribly rich

Yeah, I found that out first hand. I'm running an audi bypass valve from an audi TT on my All-trac.
