1. put nail into tire
2. take to incompetent tire place, tire repair 25 bucks
3. acknowledge that there is now a ding in rim lip
4. ask manager "dont you guys use a touchless mounter"
5. show manager damage
6. await replacement of wheel by store $180+.
7. replace other wheel with much worse rub

well i didnt drive the nail in myself actually, but this actually happened yesterday at tire discounters. they better represent, after all, they are a national chain. boy was that manager pissed at his employee....felt pretty bad.

And what if the manager happens to read this post?
1. That's down right scamming/theft.
2. Posting your crimes on a public forum is not much wiser.

Doesn't anyone have morals anymore!

he didn't do it on purpose

they just gave him enough money to replace a wheel...he decided to cut his losses and replace ANOTHER wheel with wose damage

thats not scamming, its smart.

why would he replace the one with a little ding when he could replace the one with a big ding.

they still owed him a wheel regardless.

he didn't drive in the nail himse.f

If you knew the ding was there before you went into the tire shop then my point still stands; If on the other hand you did not know beforehand the wheel had a ding (or if the shop actually caused the ding) then ignore my preaching.

Did they put the ding in your rim or not?

To the best of my understanding, he got the less visible ding at the shop, and used the money from the shop to replace another rim that had a worse ding.

"Touchless Tire Mounter"? Does that exist?!

I think the employee desire to pay for the rim. I have not encounter any shop that does not scratch the rim when they mount the tire. Well, except the shop that sold me the rim.
