I need some help. My celica absolutely stinks when I turn on the air or heat. Anyone have this problem? It smells like dirty socks so I'm assuming there is some mildew in the system somewhere. Is there an easy solution? I'm usually the last one to smell a fart, so I'm not really one to notice odors, but this reeks. Also, my CD player keeps kicking out CD's and saying Err-1 on the radio display. It happens after lsitening to it for a few songs and then it won't accept the CD for a bit of time. Toyota hasn't been much help 'cause I took it in twice to fix it but they couldn't repeat the problem. I didn't have time to sit with them but I wanted to see of anyone else had this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-Andy, proud owner of a Celica GT which has had the following problems since purchasing new:
timing belt tensioner went screwy
door panel had to be replaced for scratched from factory
door panel replaced again after leather panel put in place but they failed to notice I had cloth interior
wires rattled leading to sunroof
sunrood replaced due to creak
3rd sunroof ordered by Toyota techs cause second started creaking like the first-came up with solution to problem (wax and moisten old seal)
seat bracket broke (twice-I'm not fat either, only a buck50)
rattle in engine (tech left his tools in engine bay after fixing timing belt tensioner)
door creaks loudly when opening on cold days
door lock motor keeps turning after door is locked

How long have you had your car? My car smelled pretty bad too for the first month but it went away after that. You might want to try and let the air/heat run for a while with the windows open and the smell should wear off after a while.

As for the cd player, you either have a screwy deck or the cds you're playing are flawed in some way. If they're CD-Rs, the cd player might not respond well to the media that you used.

You should stop farting on the seats. Fart odors are stringent, the smells really traps into the seats especially if you have cloth (that's why I got leather for my gts).
My other car smelled nasty too because I would fart everytime I'm in the car.
But the gts I keep it fart free.

If u really want to get rid of the a/c smells. u should vacuum or better yet clean inside the metal screen vent near the windshield wiper out side of ur car. u have to first remove the windshield wipers though.
I'm willing to bet that u park on the street often and the tree saps fell in.

I dont know about the smell problem, but if you want another head unit I'll trade ya, I dont use my stock one anymore so a broken on in an attic is just as good as a non broken one
