Well i just got my SPC rear links and front bolts today..wow those things are actually heavier than i thought they would be. Do yall think i could take a go at this and install them myself? I installed my lowering springs by myself so think i could do this? I need a alignment pretty bad..so im goin to do that right after these are installed.

its easy, just the two top bolts at the top are hard to reach, so that should be tricky the rest should be a sinch. should be easier than a spring install, so i'd say you are good. get a rubber mallet, that will help.

in the spc instructions it says after you have it all back together..adjust rear toe, recheck alignment and road test...how exactly do i adjust rear toe to where it needs to be..

Go to an alignment shop and let them do it. Homebrew alignments are always trouble.

THe shop that did my suspension had a hard time aligning my Hotchkis Rear links .. they ended up getting it perfect but took then hours cause of adjustments ... they were new to the link though so that could be the problem.

yea..i was going to let the shop do the alignment..its only like 2 miles up the road if that..think it would be ok..if i just installed these and then took it to them?

Congrats on the purchase.

You just have to adjust those links to the stock ones as close as possible.
You or your mechanic can get them pretty close. These are camber links, so don't let a toe in there fool you. You still need an alignment, but can drive the car plenty.

I'm going to get those instead of the Hotchkis camber links that I already have.

Good luck on the alignment.

Many shops around here won't touch a car that has even an adjustable anything.
They won't adjust the anything and instead give a sterile Toyota Celica alignment or a brush off.

Make sure you state that you have adjustable parts for a said alignment and look at their faces change.

I would install them yourself, but go have it aligned afterwards.

Honestly bman365, those camber links are a 20 minute job. It's that easy. I can do it in my driveway with a standard Toyota jack from my Celica.

It's 4 bolts both sides.

It's all about the alignment.

A write up would be beneficial. I would like a write up regardless if you are up to it. No ****e.

anybody have these...i have them installed now and the shop couldn't adjust them. Camber is at -3 right now and he said the arm is adjusted as far out as it can go. Did i just install something wrong? I thought the install was pretty simple instead of getting the knuckles out of the tight spaces. Anybody have this kit and can help me with my problem?

Dude you can do it yourself. I put on my hotchkiss camber links myself. It is fairly easy.
I got mine adjusted very close just bye eyeing it.
The shop said that it was as close as they could have got it.
But it might take a couple times undoing the one side and adjusting it, but it is cake.

Why would you replace your hotchkiss with those, same part, hotchkiss just looks better thats all.

Funny thing about those "black galvanized" SPC bolts. They look to be heat and chemically treated properly to be grade 10.8(+/-), but they've been known to snap on people after a few years.

I just bought them. I should be getting them this week. Just wanted to know if you got the problem fixed. How easy was it to do it yourself? How long did it take you? Can you pm me some info. please so I can do it myself. THANKS

Just to let you guys know. I did post that the bolts on the rears will break after a year or 2.

has anyone else had these on beyond 2 years or is your post just on your experience?

Know 3 people personally, many more on different forums. Because SPC makes a similar rear "kit" for many other applications that involve the same bolt.

bolt...are you referring to the part that is connected to the joint?

yea i finally got this kit on a while ago, just never posted back in here.

i just had problems following along with the instructions. Their instructions are just words, i learn better with pictures too...so it took me a couple tries to get it right.

but i just didnt turn the right adjusting nut or something like that

can i replace the bolts to something that wont break? i'd probably have a new setup in 2 years, what issues does it casue immediatly when it breaks?

Yes, that one, unfortunately.

Yes, gotta find someone that's willing to make one for you though.

Why would you replace your hotchkiss with those, same part, hotchkiss just looks better thats all.

Why, because the Hotchkis links I have on my car can't be fixed cheaply.

I had them since inception, pretty much, and they have seized many times. I had the collar around the bushings "sanded" down just to put grease into the fittings. It's been a hassle for years and years of jingle and jangle and rust.

I always was spot on with lube during the years, but with a winter/salt climate they won't hold up. Most parts like that won't hold up.

They look good and nobody will see them so who cares. Those camber links are a quality part.

The SPC links, being cheaper and of the same standards, are a sure win in my book.

I don't care if they weigh more either and I don't care for a polished chrome exterior.

If it does the same job, yet cheaper, then that's a plus for me.

I just got my set on Weds. But I only got one in the box, so now I got to wait until they send me the other one. It might take another two weeks. They are 5lbs. each.
