I installed a new reviever the other day, it looks great, i love it and all that but my box went dead. With the stock sterio in my box pumped, now it sucks. WTF? Why would that happen, i set the eq to where i want it, all the settings are on point, i just cant get the box to sound like it did before. It's a pretty big difference too, its 1 JL 12w6 with an alpine v12 amp. Before i used to not even be able to distort the thing if i wanted to, now the **** has nothing. Any help available??

How are you getting your signal to the sub's amp first off? What is your exact problem? Are you are getting distortion now or is the SPL just not there?

The spl just isnt there. The quality is just gone, all ranges! And it easliy distorts at high vol. levels, thats why i brought up the distortion fact.

uh, which head unit? before, w/ the stock hu, you were using a thing to convert speaker outs to rca? and now you're using rca outs? if so, what is the voltage of the rca outs on the new headunit? maybe they're less than the converter things you had. or unless you're still using speaker outs on the new one. then i donno. maybe it has a high pass crossover on it, and its disabling the lower bass. make sure thats disabled on the out for the subs.

If you have pre-outs for the sub you should definitly be using those. Depending on your head unit you may have anywhere from 1 - 4 v pre-amps. Your ams should have a gain control and your sub also a sub level controler in your head unit. Check all of it. Also if you hooked up to pre-outs, there are up to 3 sets, front rear and sub. (low pass) make sure you got the right one.

The unit wasnt on non-fading therefore i couldnt control the sub. Actually what threw me off with this damn unit(lots of controls and functions) was that i still could control the sub at least two other ways. So i couldnt see why i wasnt getting the bass i want. I know i checked the N/F in the beginning and it was on but for some reason it wasnt hitting, must have been turned off then. So i turned it back on and found a new mode where i can control the sub box.
