and where do you have it mounted?
I'm thinking about getting a Escort Passport SR1... is that overkill? should I tone down to something like a Escort Passport 8500 or BEL980? I have a friend who can get me a good deal on one of them.. any opinions? what do you guys have? any comments of info would be appreciated :D

I couldn't live without mine... i have the new Bel 960 (you might not be able to find the 980 anymore) i work at Circuit City and i got a deal on mine. right now i have it mounted on my windshield and the cord is in my cig. lighter but this week i plan on hardwiring it cause the wire is starting to ware away my dash (the sunglass holder thing) I think i might sell mine detector to get the new 985.. if anyone is interested i'll sell it for 180 with shipping and the box and all acc.... check it out at www.circuitcity.com this radar detector is normally 280 and it is only 3 weeks old (sorry to talk about selling in this form but it fits in) later

for a lot of info on detectors, go here. www.radartest.com

I love my escort 7500. The 8500 is great too.

The SR1 is over kill. After reading that website, you'll see that the technology cops have makes it damn near impossible to avoid a ticket if they are using the newest technology and using it correctly. Lucky for us, only about 5% of the cops you will see will have their radar on and using instant on.

Detectors do help, but they won't keep you out of all tickets. I've only had one since putting in my 7500.

I think I'll be going for the Escort 8500 or the BEL 990..
originally I was looking at the V1... but it sure seems to get low ratings everywhere..

Where does it get low ratings (besides the radartest.com scam)?

sorry but there is a reason that there is a $400 price tag on the V1. and no its not because all of us who bought one are suckers :)

I just picked up an Escort 8500 the other day from Crutchfield. I hear its the best for the money. Is it worth it? If it keeps me from gettin another ****in ticket then yes 300 one time shot versus 80+ insurance hike a month for next year.. my math says yes.

dude clonegts. where is the wire running for your detector? I need to find a way to get mine to run like that. Yours looks almost invisible. Can you see it from the outside?

I live in va and they are illegal here, and im sick of cops and all their b.s so I picked up an 8500 passport.

Anyways dude more pics of how you have urs up would be nice thanks.

I'll would go with what I got. The Escort 8500. I had the 7500 for 2 years, and now for 4 month with 8500, I like the 8500 better. The K band and Ka bands are longer in range.
Good Luck,
Dan

Every mag? C/D is only the 1st of the last 4 reviews that picked the V1 as the best. The other 3 picked either the Bel or Escort.
