Laptop Tuning Question

Hey guys, question for ya...

For tuning with laptops, can you use a OBD-II connector to USB to tune with? Or is there a special cable to go with. I already have the laptop and a power inverter in my car so it seems like it is common sense to use the laptop..... Anys pros or cons that I should know?

i dont know a lot about the whole ECU tuning so I am a newb to this, i have an 00 GT 5spd if that means anything?
