I know the IAVC (IAC) controls and regulates idle by letting air bypass the throttle plate at idle, but does it also do this when the throttle plate is closed between shifts? I ask this because I was curious as how this would affect BOV and wastegate response if it was letting in air between shifts...

I would think it would have minimal affect on the BOV. Since your BOV opening is more likely larger than the IACV opening, and seeing as the BOV is before the IACV, the air would much rather rush out there.

Yah, the IAC channel is very small.

It should only be active at the lower rpm range...

So when you're boosting...and air is going into the engine, and the throttle plate suddenyl closes, and your BOV evacuates the air in the system...will the fact that the IAVC is still letting some air from the charged system in have any effect on BOV performance? Wouldn't it be performing the same task as, say, propping the throttle plate open a bit like they did on older EFI engines?

Of course it does, but what we're saying is the affect is minimal and besides: there's nothing you can do about it!
