Today is exactly one year that I have my car and what do I get as a present?
Hit a stray dog on my way home from work tonight. Beast came out of nowhere, I didn't even get to brake. Result: Broken lower lip, but worst of all broken radiator. So Celica's down for now. Anybody recommend a nice lip?

How did just hitting a dog break your radiator? I've hit a retread, raccoon, and a sign and my radiator is banged up but it still works

Excuse to get a nice body kit Time for a CF lip hehehe
How did just hitting a dog break your radiator? I've hit a retread, raccoon, and a sign and my radiator is banged up but it still works I asked myself the very same question. In the third pic you can see it unseated the condenser, that pushed the radiator back and broke it at the drainplug. I had to drive 1/4 mile to find a spot to pull over. I lost all the coolant while waiting for the towtruck.
same damn thing happened to me first week i had it though, and it was a huge ****in racoon. water was even leaking from the radiatior about 1200 $ later it was fixed. I'm not expecting that much. A new radiator is gonna be $160, already have a spare condensor. Dunno yet what lip I'll be getting.
if it makes you feel any better im sure it's hurting him a lot more then it is you... lol sorry had to. sorry to hear about that idk what i would do if anything ever happened to the celi The dog is actually very dead.
$#!+!!!!! sorry to hear that, bro...

Ahhh, poor doggy...
Just out of curiosity, how fast were you going before you became a dog killer?
Yeah that sucks for the dog :(

I normally would say poor doggy too, not this time. I was doing 50 mph, not that it would have mattered, that's the speed I always drive normally. Road was lined with bushes, dog just appeared from out of the bushes on my side at that moment. I just heard a loud bang, saw my liscence plate fly up and the dog slide to the other side of the road. I was like what is a dog doing in this area? I would expect to see crabs and such but not dogs.

i remember back home (saipan), i was in a 92 rustbucket corolla and a kid on an ATV was riding down the left lane and a dog was running beside him, barking and facing the kid the entire time. I came to a complete stop and the dog ran straight up into my front bumper with a loud "THUD" and a little yelp. kinda like a puppy's...

Repair work has started, bumper and lower grille have survived unscathed. Lip could be repaired, but I'd rather have a new one now. Contacted Postert but have not received a reply yet.
Condensor quite bent, so new one is definitely going in.

Radiator repair below. Pic above shows how the condensor was pushed back and brok radiator at the tip below the drainplug.

It all should be covered by your comprehensive portion of your insurace, which means it won't raise your rates.

Dog serial killer!! :D Sorry to hear that.......well at least you got out of it easy.Call me paranoid ......but I'm bound for bad luck on anniversaries. My sister got her car totaled on its anniversary. Two years ago my car got totaled on its anniversary. Damn woman came from no where trying to make a turn to the street I'm at and ended up on my left wheel. My car looked like it was eaten by the "great white". Luckily I walked out of it unscratched .....woman ended up with a totaled car, ticket from a near by cop and insurance liability. Which worked out to my advantage in buying my Celica and keep extra pocket cash. :naughty:

Everytime I hear a story like that I wish someone with insurance would total my car when I'm not in it.

I have since brought down my speed to 40 mph when driving home at night on that stretch of road. The only "problem" I have now is that my car is taking a little more time to reach operating temperature now. It would usually be at temperature after about a mile, now it's taking 2 miles of driving hehehe.
