Atlanta area, Ponce De Leon heading towards 75/85 around Old Spaghetti Factory (just before actually).
Mustang GT (later found out it was chipped) plays at a light with me. Next light goes red. No traffic. No cops. It's on....
Perfect start. He's pulled 1/2 car length on me already. 8300, shift, chirp, SWEEET, I'm still in VVTL-i, maybe I have a hope. I've crawled up to even with him by the time i need to shift to third... third gear i gain even more. End of 3rd gear we both shut down. I'm not too sure about how much i beat him, but he was somewhere between my door and bumper by the time we let go. First time i've ever hit that 1-2 shift perfect, and damn it makes the car worth it.
He follows me to a gas station and starts asking me questions. Starts off with, "what's in there? a supercharged V6?" "No way, there's no way that's a 4 cylinder. Damn!" He then tells me he's getting about 17mpg, i tell him i'm getting 30 on this particular fill up. "good race man." Back at him. Definately a cool guy, obviously could have pulled a bit more out of a chipped Mustang GT, then again, it was a pre-99, so his rear end probably sucked it all up for him.
mmm.... drag racing... now there's a temporary solution.
