ok, I went to autozone to get oil and a filter, I asked the guy for the model number for a GT-S oil filter, so he goes on his computer and asked if it was DOHC, I told him yes thinking, "uh-oh, they're both dual overhead cam." He tells me M-106. So I buy it. I go back a little later to swap out wipe blades because I bought the wrong size. I asked another guy to check. This guy asks if it's the 1.8 liter. Again, "uh-oh, they're both 1.8 liter." This guy tells me M-103. So I buy that one too. So which one is it?!?! Thanks in advance.

Why didn't you check yourself? They have catalogs where you can find the correct product(s) for your vehicle.
I couldn't find anything on their web site.

Check here, but the weird thing is, even there, they show the engines as both 1.8L 4 cyl. wtf???
Go to the product catalog, then click on oil filters...

thanks for the link, that's exactly what happened when the guy at autozone typed it in. I guess I'll use the 103 and if my car blows up then Mobil will owe me a chunk of change. :D

Uh.....both of them are 1.8L engines. Just that one has more HP then the other.
The oil filters between the GT and GTS are interchangeable. Only difference is that the GTS filter is a little bit longer, evident in the fact that GTS holds a extra half qt. in the motor.

but mobil lists the m-103 filter for both engines. I just hope they know what they're talking about.

Right, but it is misleading the way they list both motors... just 1.8L 4cyl, you'd expect them to at least show the engine codes 1ZZ/2ZZ or even GT/GTS...
I remember some auto parts store's salespeople used to asked me the same thing for my 87 celica, is it the 2.0? and I was like... they are all 2.0L engines, 2SE/3SFE/3SGE/3SGTE... talk about they knowing more than the customer...
