So, we picked it up Friday night after the Dealer called to let me know it was in. It had a whopping 3 miles on the odometer. This was our first "new" car purchase.

Anywho, here are some pictures.

First thing I want to do is find some nice wheels as the hubcaps aren't cutting it.

Anyway, since I have a box, go ahead and flame.

Those pics were pre-wash. It's nice and clean right now, apart from some of the kids around my apartment got they're grubby hands on it.

As far as driving, it's not as bad as you'd think. It has a lower center of gravity than the first one. It's not as throwable as the Celica or my Civic, but the body roll is minimal.

Acceleration is pretty good. The 2.4l is a big improvement over the anemic 1.5l. Power is smooth, though there does seem to be more power in the high end.

I've been taking it easy on it so far. Once It's broken in I will be a little more authoritative about it.

Are you thinking of getting the OEM wheels from the dealership or an after-market set elsewhere? Gunmetal? Black? Bronze? Silver? 16", 17", or 18"?
The first gen. xB still catches my eye, have you gotten any looks?

I'm either going to see if the tC wheels will fit or buy some Black 17's. I may keep it at 16's and same tire type for comfort though. I think this would look great with a drop of 1-2 inches (especially in the rear) and some black wheels.

We get looks all the time. I let my wife drive it back from the dealer, 50 miles, I sat and watched everyone. I think we may be only the 4th xB2 in Houston. A lot of the looks are from xB1 owners who are jealous.

It's pretty funny, I have made a couple of posts on Scionlife. A lot of the xB1 owners are ragging on this hard. The biggest problem they have is that it's not true JDM. It's built in Japan, but only sold here. They were expecting more along the lines of the new bB.

They just can't get over the fact that this is a much better vehicle. Cry Babies.

Woah, it looks huge. Maybe that is just due to the rounded edges. Like the colour, looks like a metallic burgundy on my monitor, correct?

Are the interior plastics as chintzy as the Celica's?

That thing has a serious snout to it; looks like it belongs on the face of a robot from Futurama :D

Congratulations on the new vehicle, btw :)

It is bigger, one of the main reasons it seems bigger is the smaller windows and thicker roof. But that is because of the side impact airbags.

Yes, it's kind of a maroon. It's actually called Blackberry Crush.

No, the interior is built very well. Comparing it to my old Celica, it's closer to a Lexus fit and finish. The materials are very nice.

The snout is a little weird at first. I'm still getting use to the dimensions when driving in and out of tight places. I must admit though, the turning radius is awesome for it's size.

seriously start modding it, and get in contact with companies that will be producing parts for it and try to cut deals and get sponsors. Companies will be more willing hten ever to help u out right now due to its a new car on the market and all they wanna market is their products for new cars not to mention one that is very affordable such as the xB.

Damn right. We are thinking ahead.

The radio is pretty cool. The integrate iPod functionality rocks and, for a stock system, doesn't sound too bad. The cool thing is, this radio comes with pre-outs for Amplifiers for the front and rear.

I plan to at least get it some wheels, and since the tint shop is right across the street from me, It needs a new tint.

It's an improvement over the previous, but I don't get why car manufacturer's keep putting the gauges in the center of the car. Who in the hell wants to look to the center of their car to see their speed?

There is one round light on the bottom bumper on the drivers side. You can't really see it in the pics.

Sweet. Actually, all kidding aside, if this is essentially the "family transporter" I think you made a good choice. Toyota reliability and fuel economy with plenty of room for all your sh!t, and best of all, it's not an ungainly SUV or Hummer.

Exactly, the only SUV I liked was the RDX, but that was way out of the price range. I liked the old Rav4 as far as economy and everything else, but we wanted something new and the new Rav4 is too big and too retarded looking.

The EPA numbers on this are way down though. EPA hwy is 28mpg, but I'm averaging around 29 mixed.

You're supposed to be focusing on the road not your gauges. It takes some getting used to but all you gotta do is glance down. I like it because on the Yaris they put glove boxes on both sides since theres no guages in the way above the steering wheel

It needs wheel's first, then a drop, then a lip kit maybe. I'm going today to get the front windows tinted.

Once they come out with an aftermarket enclosure to go under the floor in the rear, i'm going to pick that up.

The "few" mods won't be for a while, I will at least be doing the wheels in the next month or so. Thinking polished black wheels, but probably only 16's and keep the same amount of rubber.

I won't be adding an exhaust, though there will definetly be some suspension modifications on the way.

No, I'm not a chick, thats my wife.

We paid $17600 for it ($18400 OTD), the only upgrade was the HU. I must say, for a stock sound system, it's pretty good.

As far as gas mileage, in a little over a week, we've put on 700 miles, so far we have been getting 28mpg on average (its rated @ 28 on the hwy). I'm pretty happy with the mileage. Compared to other wagons/SUV's it's size, that is a very good number.

Working on the wheels.

The xD is actually going to have the new version of the 1ZZ in it. The xB is the only one that received the ?2AZ-FE?.

First Mod will probably be wheels, then a drop. The damn thing looks like it's ready to go off road.

I'm going to keep everything to simple Bolt-Ons. I probably won't do much, if anything to the engine unless it helps it to breathe.

Dooly - It does have a ton of room. It even has storage compartments for tools in the engine bay. I'll try and get a picture, my wife took the box to work today.

Thanks.. it's simple... just get to here and there car... not looking for performance car... but it's pretty fast with manual... it got good torque....
Compare to previous gen... it's so much faster... it'll have good potential like tC... also so much room under the hood.... CF would help alot.. since hood is so heavy....

It's not much inside, but it has all the essential stuff....
I'm working the custom gauge face right now... finally done with stock replica template.. spent like whole day tracing everything...
All I have to do is, come up with different design... maybe Farrari Enzo design again.. LOL....

How is the stock audio? That looks like a very nice deck for stock. Do I see a pioneer badge on it?

After getting into car audio, I tend to hate all stock car audio, no matter how good they claim it is, its too integrated with everything, so when you want to upgrade it makes things difficult. Even more so as the cars become newer.

Anyways, the new XBs look nice. I wouldn't mind owning one.

Stock audio is decent for a sub $18k car. The great thing is that the CD player is not integrated into anything but the steering controls. The stock player is Pioneer, and as well as the iPod/Aux inputs, it also has pre-outs for front/rear amps and a sub. For a factory HU, it is very good, but It will probably be replaced by a D3 or something.

There are morons over at that site. I have to moderate them. Idiots.

I disagree with you about the new xB being better. Honestly, it looks like a POS to me. Im glad they upped the power but other than that they failed.

When they unveiled this at an event that Scion corp held in Miami, everyone applauded but afterwards most people werent thrilled about it and this was a model that had already had a lot of mods.

Whatever you do, dont get any wheels smaller than 18s. 19s fit it almost perfectly. 16 or 17s will look tiny. The new xB has a huge wheel well compared to the previous gen. 17s look kinda small on the first gen, itll look pretty dumb on the 08s.

Personally, I prefer this. I was seriously considering buying a first gen in 05, but there were a few things that were missing. I still like both almost equally. The first one was groundbreaking and so fresh that no-one really knew how to perceive it. This one is more of a Wagon.

I didn't buy this for the customization though. I bought it for a dependable, safe, and relatively efficient family cruiser. Taken from that perspective, it is a great car. For customization though, the first gen is so much better. I may end up picking up a first gen soon to have as a commuter car.

That's the one thing that really impresses me on Scions. They meant it for customization so they didn't leave a thing out on the factory Pioneer HU. I love the little cover thing they did on the tC too.

I love the entire dash and console on the tC. My wife really wanted one of those, but with 2 doors it wouldn't work.

They are supposed to be introducing a 4th model possibly. If they do, I think it would be awesome to bring out a small sedan kinda like the tC with a similar roof.

I'm trying to decide which wheels I want. I can't figure out if I want a polished wheel, Black, or bronze.

Photoshop isn't helping.

I'll try and get some today. Inside cargo room is comparable to an Explorer with the seats down.

Rear seats leg room is huge, and the front seats are wide. It looks a lot smaller from the outside, but it's pretty big on the inside. I was able to fit 46" widescreen DLP back there last week (w/o the stand).

18x7.5, 42mm offset, 40 profile tire. No name brand, but they didn't cost an arm and a leg.

No. Actually, I just took those with my phone. I need to wash it, but with all the rain, I haven't had chance. Once it's all clean and shiny, I'll get some fresh pics.

Lol, those wheels look good on just about any car...

Honestly, wheels go right over my head. All I know is that I had a budget, and these fit right under there.

Clean rims, though I really like the ones in your sig. I believe Rota has some knockoff's of them for a good price.

Yeah, I really wanted to go bronze, but the wife said no. These were a great compromise and half the price of the rim's I wanted.

You mean the one that everyone and they're mom is getting. No.

I'm probably going to drop it an inch or two and leave it at that. There are too many bumps and dips in the road around here that would destroy it.
