Began the unt for test drives today. Was on the look out for 96-98 Cobra's, 00-01 Celica GT-S's, RSX Type S's, and other sport compacts.
Found a Sentra Vpec or whatever, one of those new ones. Sat in it, and honestly did not like the interior at all. the shifter position is awkward as hell, and I didn't like teh seats too much, they felt too flat. Also didn't like the whole 4 doors thing. Good value for the car though, was only 19k I believe?
This search of mine encompassed all of Anderson, SC and even went down to Greenville, SC to their automile or whatever. Visited about 10-15 dealers. 3 Toyota dealers, no Celica's o any of the lots. Found a used auto GT celica at a **** Smith used car lot, but I think we know how far I went into looking at that car. Found a Rousch and Saleen at the Ford dealer ni Greenville, but haha, 42k for only 360hp just isn't my cup of tea...or my price range, but its fun to dream...hehe.
So with all options out..went to a Mitsu dealer and laughed at teh new Eclipse..um..went to Car Max as a last resort, and it went somethign like this.
Guy: "car max pays me to tell you all this cliched propaganda about our company"
Dave: "Zzzz"
Guy: "Here are two identical Honda Accords, pick out the one who has had frame damage, I bet you can't"
Dave: "Really? ok, its the one on the right"
Guy : "How did you know that?!!?"
Dave: "Cuz im not a dumb ass, look at teh frame rail, and also this beaded weld, it looks like a trained chimp put this car back together, not a Honda factory."
Guy: "uhh..um..well..most people wouldnt have seen that, uhh..."
Dave: "Show me your real cars"
Guy: "huh?"
Dave: "Your V8's man!"
BS continues, we get out to teh lot, found an 01 5 spd GT, but had 18k on it, and was being asked for 18k. Not too shabby a deal, but you can't haggle at Car Max, so I did the mental math.. *305hp at 14k is greater than 260hp at 18k*
So we go tot he compute rroom to look up Cobra's...he found lie two..both verts, both white..I can't stand white cars, so they were out of the picture. After another 20 minutes of him hitting refresh on teh same screen trying to tell me he's checking other store's inventory (by some weird chance, they all had two white cobra's themselves too!) he finally gave up, offered to buy my car (No.) and I left.
So..no test drives today hell no cars even out there right now..looks like my next one is coming off Autotrader, or my dealer back home in Pennsylvania, huh?
