Hey everyone I have a question? I was leaving my friends graduation party and a few blocks down there was a slow person in front of me so after the stop sign I hit it to pass them in the oncoming lane. I know it is bad to rev engine high when it isn't warmed up but I wasn't thinking. It was one click up from completely cold. Alright well as I was passing I passed 6000 rpm and lift didn't kick in and when I got around 73-75k it almost sounded like it was red lining. The needle moved like it was red lining. Well as soon as that happened I pulled it out of gear and drove home nice and easy. As I was on highway my chack engine light came on. I had a Po446 code about a month ago maybe it is just that. I was wondering if something bad could be wrong. On the way home the engine sounded fine and ran fine. Also it isn't lift I replaced the bolts less than a month ago. Any Ideas Thanks

toyota put the rev limiter at 7000 at cool temperatures for our engines, it even states it in the manual (so, it means, unless avoidable, never try to hit lift while your car is still warming up, for me, i wait until the temp. gauge goes to the half way point)....the fact that you hit it then and "felt" like you were red-lining, i don't think, should be a reason for your CEL to come on...? like i said, it was intended to be there....it might be your month old code coming back

I was getting worried, but that is what happened. When the cel came on I was thinking it was the old code coming back, but since I wasn't sure what happened earlier before I got on the highway I was freaking out. Thanks for the help.

you could damage the engine by revving it high while it's cold, so u never know, that could be the reason the cel came on...

I would admaging if I damaged the engine the cel woould come on right away and the engine wouldn't feel like it is running normally. I am going to go to Autozone as soon as I have a chance and use the obd2.

I wasnt thinking. I usually do treat it with respect. I just couldn't drive as slow as the person was in front of me.
