man, I was hoping to see Sladetemplar, DaveB, or ByranH there!! but they weren't there :)

anyhow, I had crap luck launching. I think, after doing a little launch after the track closed, that I wasn't slipping the cluthc enough. Gosh darn it... gotta wait till next year to try again...

well here's my best 2 runs (out of 5, rest were screwed up):

R/t: 1.769
60': 2.378
330: 6.387
1/8: 9.659
MPH: 75.64
1000: 12.453
1/4: 14.823
MPH: 95.31

R/t: .955
60': 2.424
330: 6.441
1/8: 9.724
MPH: 74.83
1000: 12.527
1/4: 14.901
MPH: 94.62

In conclusion, I'm not happy with my launches. I could do much better I think.

but I am happy with my shifting. I think I did a okay job with that.

Also, I believe DaveB says all the GT-S's he's ever seen (with his own eyes) run at KCIR always get mid 15's. so, at least I"m not that bad. but I think BryanH got a 14.7xx with an I/E??

Also this was my very first time there, and it was kinda scary. :)

Any tips, comments to help me in regard to my runs?! :)

Those are some really nice times for it being your first time and all, hopefully you can get the 60' times around 2.1-2.2 next time and you'll be good. Man i can't wait till this spring/summer when i get my next car, then i'll be joining you at the tracks.

Not bad. You have i/e right? You can shave at least .1 off your 60 foot for sure. Even my **** bawx GT can do 2.2 :D

Not that it matters, but your reaction times suck! :)

Bryan,
that was not too cold! I had just a sweater on and it was just fine! :)

what were your 60ft and trap speed for that 14.6?

I wish I could try it again.... I'm positive I just need to slip my clutch a little more to get a decent launch :(

Those are awesome times. I was really starting to doubt any GT-S was going to break into the 14s or even the low 15s at KCIR. Yes, I've NEVER seen a GT-S (seen 7 run so far) go any faster than a 15.4@91mph, but I will have to say that the runs were in 75+ degree weather. Unfortunately, you'll be lucky to get a low 2.3 60' with the GT-S if the track isn't resurfaced this winter. I struggle to hit 2.25 60's and I've got a ton more torque than your GT-S. KCIR just doesn't hook up well.

I was all set to go to KCIR on Sunday. I had my gas tank to less than a 1/4 tank and I was in the process of pulling my spare and junk when the wife drops the bombshell and say, "what are you doing, you know we're going to see my relatives tommorrow, right". Man, I was pissed because I knew it was the last race of the season. My last time out in mid October, I busted out a 14.75@95 in 75 degree weather. I thought for sure I was gonna crush my record seeing that the weather forecast was saying much cooler (upper 40s) temps, wind was out of the southwest (tailwind), AND a upper level system was moving through kicking up the baro pressure. Ahhh...I'm pissed just thinking about it right NOW!!!

Anyhow, congrats. KCIR is done for the season, but I might try going to the Mo/Kan strip about 60 miles south of KC. I'm gonna check their close date.

Hey Dave,
that sucks that your wife gotcha :)
Maybe I'll see ya there next year.

well I think it was not KCIR's fault I launched bad. It was because I just was nervous.

that darn guy was yelling at me to go "on the 3rd yellow"
all I wanted to do was concentrate on my launches....

I had real bad wheel hop too. Windshield wipers turning on and everything.....

I think I was almost not even slippign my clutch at all. essentially just dropping it.

darn me :(

oh well. guess that's what happens the first time out. :(

Not bad for a first time with mods. I think you realize that you need to work on the 60' times. You should be able to get a 2.2, maybe even a 2.1 if you work at it. 2.1 is my goal if I ever make it back to the track.

Do not, I repeat do not "dump the clutch". If you think a 2.3-2.4 60' is bad, just wait and see what you get with a clutch drop. When you dump the clutch, you shock the drivetrain and tires which results in massive wheelspin. You can shoot for 2.2s, but don't expect it. Many of my Honda friends pull 2.2s WITH drag radials. Dave from Darksol Motorsports pulls high 1.9s at KCIR with full blown slicks at 12psi. When he went to Heartland Park he was getting low 1.8s. That is a substanial difference. You can expect a drop of .2-.3 in et when running at Heartland Park after reviewing numerous slips. KCIR is just a fun track, but since it's not a sanctioned track, the upkeep is poor. If you want to get really good times, go to Heartland. I plan to go next year.

2.1xx 60' times should be possible. With some moderate wheel spin and fully inflated stock tires, I managed a 2.3 and 2.21 on my only track trip. I know I can hit 2.1 on fully inflated tires with some practice.
