I've done alot of research on nitrous systems for the GT-S, but no one has stated anything about dyno or street tuning for a nitrous setup.

Would one need to get a PFC or E-Manage to tune for a 50-75 wet shot, or is the kit well enough to be plug and play?.

If you have a nitrous setup, feel free to post what shot your running and your kit :wiggle:

tuning for power or safety. most wet kits just require the correct jetting. which is usually a little on the rich side for safety.so you just hook it up and go.with a wideband.(dyno or street but prefferably tested in a header bung)you may be able to drop a jet size in fuel if youre running richer than what you think is safe. most kits are also designed to run with stock timing. (by running rich also you must use premium gas)buti believe a powerfc can retard timing.then it can be leaned out for more power.i may be wrong but if you dont already have a powerfc or emage buying one just for nitrous would be a waste. not saying they arent great mods or additions to a nitrous setup, you just dont need to go out and buy one if you wanna run nitrous. i have 50 shot dynotune kit on a 1zz. though most all wet kits are the same except for bells and whistles like the zex kit module or nytrex triple threat solenoid assembly. spent that money on a clutch if you dont have an upraded one already.

thanks for the response, it was exactly what i was looking for.

I have a clutch so i'm good there. What jets would be used for a 50, 60, or 75 shot for the GTS? If your only monitoring your a/f ratio, would you even need a wideband?

understandable that it's for the initial jet tuning, however, but if you have a correct jet size, would you even need it in the long run?

GTS has to use premium gas, so it's all good there...

Emanage or PFC would only be used to retard timing or fuel if it's too rich, which can be done with a smaller jet, so it's therefore not needed?

do this :

1. replace thermostat with 160-170 one, napa or trd
2. use bkr7e plugs, copper is fine and cheap for af gross plug tuning
3. use 94 octane fuel, NEVER cheap low octane or you will bang the pistons at high rpm
4. install a normal efi kit, only use nx kits, so start with jets 35nitrous/20fuel for 50whp, 36/21 for 55-60whp.
5. install a wot DIGITAL switch connected to the tps, green wire if I remember, cheap ones are available at dynotune.com
6. install a rpm digital switch, msd # 8969 is a great product, signal is black wire on a coil plug if I remember. set it at 6000 to 7800 for 00-01 gts and 7600 max for 02 gts (you don't want to hit the fuel rev limiter), lower the start point = greater cylinder pressure = faster piston wear and dramatic increase in big bang event chances!
7. install a bottle heater kit
8. install a pressure gauge
9. have fun, if you fallow this, you will never ever have troubles, I done many kits on many compact cars, keep it safe, keep it long.

With a 50 shot, you will be able to get mid 13s with 2.0 60ft and 150lbs weight reduction (seats, spare, tools, battery, fog, ac and light 15" rims and tires)

you can crank 75 shot MAX in a stock gts without pfc and forged pistons. higher then 75 for a 4 cyl powerplant = you don't collect info on a net furum.

You were asking for tuning : after everything is install, make sure engine is hot, install new plugs or brush up the top ground pin, go right away make a pass, put the car in neutral till you stop, remove plugs and check the ground band on the plugs, it should have a mark from black to grayist. this mark is the heat signal, if it's almost on the center, it's to rich or too cold, in your case it's too rich, so add +1 in the nitrous, never add more then +1, if it's still too rich, something is wrong. if the mark is on the round ground, it's too hot, add fuel +1, you can go to +2 if needed but no more, it will get a too low af and remove lots of hps.

99% of the compact 4 cyl powerplant with high cams run with 35/20 jets and 36/21 very well without mods, only highest pump octane available and +1 plugs.

nitrous respond well to decat pipe and race style headers, you want the max flow possible at the exit section.

good luck

the wide band is nice for initial. but not really neccessary after that.but helps if something goes wrong. i have a permanent narrow band and at wot the signal is relatively constant. which is where youre at on nitrous anyway.

b18b1tranny , I couldn't have written that any clearer myself :)

Now i just wish ppl would search and stumble accross that info whenever they need nitrous advice on a gt-s...
