moving the website

just wanted to let everyone know Im prolly gonna be moving the website to a new server in the next couple weeks.. so bare with me.. the ride might be bumpy along the way but hopefully it will speed things up around here..

im trying to make a decision.. i might be changing the entire forum software from UBB to Vbulletin..it runs on PHP instead of Perl.. so its supposed to be faster and better.. the server has an OC48 connection (in other words, it's like a T3 connection x 10!!!)...

That would be a great thing. I love Perl, but it's SLOW... it has to be compiled at runtime, which is just bad news when you have dozens of requests per second...

most likely will go with VBulletin becuase its another wide used software like UBB is.. just in PHP instead of Perl.. YABB is still an idea but Im not positive yet..

anyhow the software is 160 bucks and the server is 50 a month.. im trying to scrounge up the $$ now so I can move soon.. this speed issue is getting really annoying..

yeah same here.. on cable everything else is fast but my site.. sometimes it flys but sometimes isnt good enuf.. i want it all the time..
