0 TO 60 IN 6.7 (Celica GT)

i timed mine with my friedns g-tech...stocvk it ran 7.0 flat....now it runs 6.7 the best i';ve gotten.l...now with my exhaust i got to test it again...

This is what I read, he has alot of mods and his car looks good, mainly appearance mods though..... Could this be true????? If it is then I guess the GT AND GTS are about the same!!!!

im tld its fairly accurate so long as the road is straight and perfectly level (yeah right...they never are)

but its a good way to measure if oyu use the same road for all you rmods.

hey CAPITALS .... if you read on in that post..u would read that i had brought my celica to the toyota dealership and the techs told me tat my car was the fastest gt they had ever driven..they told e that my gt is a freak...and again if you read on in that post u will read that someone said that 1 out of 10 gt is a freak.....these times are acurate withn 1/10 of a sec like g-tech claims because m boys car ran at the track with his g-tech and the times where almost identicle...the second test was that i ran these times with 3 different g-tech's..most my friends have them and they all give the same times....and i have some video footage of some of my runs with my g-tech .and i wiould be happy to post them if i could figure out how to do it....also i am NOT in dreamland ..i think u are just a bit jeleous...idk im not tryin to start somethin but i hae it when people say things like this becaue they DONT WANT to believe these things...its not impossible.....BTW thanks for the compliments on my car...hop i cleared this up....

So basically you have a GT 6spd with CAI and Exhaust(the only mods that will help your speed!)and I have a 00 GTS 6spd with CAI, exhaust, and Jetchip(jetchip isn't that great) and I run about 6.8 or 6.7. Something just sounds a little fishy thats all! What area do you live in? I would love to race you!

Why does it bother you so much? Does the 14.78s 1/4 mile time Maeflyn run hurt your feelings too, since that is faster than most GT-S times? Relax, the GT is still not as fast as the GT-S. Can one be, sure, but it'll cost ya, money, practicallity (as in stripping the car...), etc.

I have never bragged about my times because I dont have any time slips, but I know I can beat a GT, as long as they dont have NOS! I am planning to run at a track in my area soon, then I will brag and post my time slips...

ghost you have to understand where hes coming from.... he's just wondering how it is that a car with 40 less pounds of weight but also 40 less HP can go faster than a GT-S.

quite frankly i'm wondering the same thing. If your car is a freak... which is possible... I'd like to find out how or why and freak out the rest of the GTs on the board.

It's a possibility with the Gtech that as long as you're turning the wheel, even slightly, its going to register some acceleration in the lateral direction and mistaken it for forward acceleration giving you a bit better time.

I say take it to the strip (its only 5 mins from us) or a dynometer.. more expensive.. but either way you can set him straight if it is faster.

I don't believe in freaks. I mean sure there were freak cars a long time ago. But not today, I mean the manufacturing process is more refined and precise. Sure no two cars will be exactly the same, but they wont be that much different either. I mean, the cars might vary by 5hp, thats not enough to make a GT as fast as a GT-S.

You just contradicted yourself. You said "takes a good driver to win against a faster car" but yet GT-S owners don't understand that some GT's are faster? The GT isn't faster, the driver may be better though..

As for Maelfyn, he can drive. And he has stripped the car, which helps. Maybe his car is a "freak", but these days the freaks aren't as far different as they used to be.

first of all, who honestly gives a rats ass about 0-60? Second, 0-60mph wont be much different between the gt and gts. They have the same torque, and the gt weights less... both can hit 60 in 2nd gear...

i've raced a friends equally modded GTS on the street just for kicks, and i had him thru 2nd(he was about at my door).... once we both got into 3rd he was gone... point being we both got to 60 and i was still ahead(i had lost little ground, probably a yard or so from the jump)

60mph is no contest of distance... it is possible to trap lower than 60 and beat someone in a distance race(a short one i hope) that traps at 60.

why do some GT-S owners get defensive? we have the same cars, just different trims. Some people had the option of a gt-s and choose the gt instead... usually because of the weight, autox, or boosting.

point blank period- isn't really hard to measure 0-60 accurately, but i bet money the gt and gts times wont be far off...
