Now I'm sick and tired of all those stupid speeding tickets (about 2 every month) and I'm going to install a radar detector.

Now, my question is, what is the best place to put the antenna ??

ANY ADVISE ??????

That is not an option, because I have to hide it from the cops (this system is illegal over here...........) :( :(

YOU GET 2 SPEEDING TICKETS A MONTH?! WTF?! They should have revoked your drivers license by now! I heard they'd take it away if you got more than 4 in a year. I guess its different in the U.S.

The last one I had was installed above the rear view mirror. With the tint across the top of the windshield you would have to be standing right next to the car to see it. Haven't looked at detectors in quite some time, if any have remote antennas then you're set, if not don't know what to tell you.

yeah same i just got an 8500 passport, if u put it at the top where the tint strip is they cant see it, only problem is the cord hanging.

I hard wired mine into the overhead console, no hanging wires. :)

if i was to put it at the top of my windshield, I would run the power to the "dome" light, rather than have a cord hanging down.

Doesn't bel or someone make one that you can wire the sesors almost anywhere and hide the display elsware? Like the sensors on the front of your car and the display in the dash out of sight. In the ashtray or somewhere.

I believe the V1 also comes w/ a stealth display which allows you to mount the radar detector in a hidden place and still have the display to mount wherever you want. Here's a link to someone who did a stealth install:

Not overhere........... in 2001 I had 27 tickets for speeding.
We can speed as much as we want, as long as we pay the tickets.

When we really want to drive fast we go to Germany ( only 1.5 hour drive) and there we can drive whatever we want. Once I was driving there about 130 mph and was overtaken by a Porsche with at least 50/75 mph...... :D :D

Can you mount the sensor in the grill, using maybe a piece of sheet metal as a bracket?

You have to mount it as high in the window as you can, but not behind the tint. The tint will hinder the accuracy of the detector, especially on detecting laser. Also, depending on what kind of tint you might have on the rest of your car, you may have another problem. When I bought my V1, I found out NOT to use the mettalic tint. The metal in the tint will block the higher radar bands (K and Ka), as well as the laser. Do some research and find some stuff out.

I ended up with a 30% tint in a True Grey film, no metal whatsoever in it.
