I have no 6th gear

First off I want to say hi and I am happy to be a part of the 7th gen forum. I have been a part of the 6th gen celica forum for quit a while now and I am some what happy with the upgrade.

I bought my '00 celica gts yesterday. It looks amazing but the problem is I don't have 6th gear. When test driving we took it down back roads and didn't really get a chance to open it up. With what I've seen it felt like the car was a steal. 90,xxx miles for 8,950 not bad. So as I was taking it home from the dealer I got an opportunity to open it up and guess what??? :furious: NO 6th gear. I mean the gear box engages but once I let go of the clutch pop it goes out and no 6th gear. SO I parked it and put it in 6th and let go of the clutch and I get this hardcore grinding noice like I misshifted. Luckily I got the 4 star warrenty they replace trannys engines computers anything. 100 dollar deductible vs paying 800 for a new tranny aint bad. I was thinking they mated the gt tranny on my 2zz motor. ANY help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks a lot guys.

C60 tranny is $2100 new from Toyota, labor would be around $400-$600.

$100 deductable is a very good thing

^ indeed warranty is the poo. i had toyota replace my ecu, injectors, short block, remachined valves. total bill came to around $8,000. i paid $100. but now my warrantys over :(

i think this takes the cake for the most RANDOM post ever in a thread...anyways, how many miles are on that thing anyhow? 6 grand seems to be too good unless it's well into the higher miles zone...

Come on guys. Lets get back to the subject. I'm going to get it fixed, but I just want to know what the case is behind me not being able to have a 6th gear.

i have no idea. maybe they did install a gt tranny instead of a gt-s tranny but thats highly doubtful. get toyota to check it out for you?
