I have a Viper 771xv, wired in to door locks, windows, remote start, etc etc.
Generally when the viper locks the doors it arms itself, and the factory alarm.
If the car is moved enough, or lifted, the Viper goes off, and if the doors are manualy unlocked or opened then the factory alarm goes off.
Kinda two-stage thing going on.
Every once in awhile, I think 4 times in two years when I unlock the car, or remote start it the damned factory alarm starts blaring for no good reason.
I don't carry the original remote with me, and I have keyhole covers, so needless to say it is a major pain to either roll the windows down with the remote to get the key in the ignition, or pop out a keyhole cover on the door.
So why the hell is my factory alarm going off?
It's happened twice now within the last month, and embarrassing as hell when in a group of people.
Help?
Factory alarm have the glass break sensor?
OEM alarm shouldn't go off on unlock... should only go off if door is opened w/o disarm/unlock.
Are you using the body ECU to unlock or are you wired right to the motors?

Glass break sensor.....? O_o
Unlock is wired into the center console switch wires, spiced right into the switch harness, basically the viper is pressing the lock/unlock button.
The stock alarm should think someone is in the car pressing the button.
I don't get why its getting set off.
If it has the glass break sensor... the unlock "clunk" might set it off?

Hrmmm.......how would I see if it does, and for that matter how to disable that portion, or all of the stock alarm.
I find it strange it happens so infrequently, and the fact that I have tried to recreate the problem, but can't get it to happen.
The damned thing just goes off when it feels like it.
If it has the glass break... that can be disconnected...
The two types are the one where the glass break is just below the OEM LED (it has a smalll screen over it)... the other is located under or near the glovebox... ( I forget exactly).
If it doesn't have a glass break... maybe your door ajar/dome light switches are too recessed?
I don't know if I can still get the install instructions... I never saved them to my HDD... & the last time I checked ... the site was down.

I have a small circular sceen below the factoy LED, So that is a glass break sensor huh?
How to disable it then I need [/yoda]
Yep.. that's the sensor.
Actually... there's an adjustment for it....
on the OEM alarm ECU... above the accelerator... I think... black box.

Alright, interesting devleopement:
I took the stock remote, and the new one, sat in my car for 15 minuts and finally reproduced the problem.
When I lock the car with the Viper remote, the OEM remote unlock sets the viper off.
When I lock the car with the OEM remote, the viper can't unlock the doors (I've had this problem a few times and just chalked it up to the Viper brain being gaytarded)
When I lock the car with the OEM remote, the viper can start the car, and when it does the OEM alarm disables, BUT only if the little red LED is solid, once it starts to blink if the viper starts the car, the OEM alarm goes off.
So.....I need to completely disable the OEM alarm, I apparently never use it anyway.

Or the Viper won't do unlock unless it is dis-arming.

@ the very least... you should put the OEM remote in a drawer & leave it there... so you're only dealing with the Viper. As it is now, your car has an identity crisis.
You might be able to disable the OEM by pulling power to it. I know the OEM is pretty well wired into a couple of different systems... and removing & restoring it to stock probably won't be easy. Probably easier to just try defeating/disabling it.

That is where it has been, I had to dig it out of a bucket to do the tests.
I haven't used the stock remote since I installed the viper. That is why this confuses the hell outta me

Dammit
One more thing I forgot to add, when you lock the car with the OEM remote, the red LED comes on, and stays solid for 30 seconds, then starts to flash.
When the LED is solid I can start the car with the viper, which disables the OEM alarm, Once it starts to flash starting the car with the viper will set off the OEM alarm.
So it appears that somehow I am inadvertently arming the stock alarm without the remote.
How is that possible?
I have never noticed the red LED on, or flashing, but then again I've never really paid attention
C'mon 2way..........this is driving me crazy.

C'mon.. I'm savoring the moment!
The stock alarm can probably be set by normal locking w/o the remote... perhaps..
I know my Avy's does... if I lock all the doors manually.. it will arm.
The solid turning to flashing is probably some delay... like you can open the door while still solid w/o setting off the OEM alarm..... once it turns to flashing.. it is armed.

I have a feeling the stock alarm is just being kinda twitchy, and needs it's damned power cut.

I'm all for it... only trouble is... I'm not sure what runs through it... I think there is an ignition kill circuit... so, you could wind up w/a car that doesn't start.
