I've been warned against going for replica kits since they are made of fibreglass, I was just wondering what the real body kits are made of, is it carbon fibre?

not really, most big brands have both a fiberglass and urethane version. The difference between buying a authentic compared to a replica is the quality of fiberglass that the body kit is made of.

The real thing you need to worry about is if it is replica or authentic. Usually replica is a pain to fit and put on. I personally like urethane, its harder to repair but its done good for me so far =]

Wrong.
Every Authentic kit is made of different materials. From Urethane, to Fiberglass, and to Fiber Reinforced Plastic.
Kaminari made their kits out of both urethane and fiberglass. RodMillenMotorsports front lip is urethane while the sides and rear are fiberglass. Veilside made their kits out of fiberglass and FRP, so does Trial and Varis. I've never seen an authentic Veilside kit in urethane.
The only CF kit is the Modena kit, (it think) even then it's made out of fiberglass with CF laid over it.
Speed N Stylez made a replica of the Vizage lip kit using urethane and most of the time there are some fitment issues.
Go with a reputable seller. Look at Whitey's Kam rear and sides that he bought from Jintei, they fit great.
Don't buy body kits you can buy from eBay, that's a big gamble.

I stand corrected.

How would you know when a body kit is Authentic or a Replica?
On the inner-side of the bumper and side skirts, there should be a stamp/label/serial number of the maker of the kit.
