what do you mean trying to hit land lift in second all the time if you don't slip the clutch doing it, your probally not gonna land it, but you won't burn your clutch

Yeah shifting fine from lift wont relaly burn your clutch. Since i am new to the celica, i am not used to the clutch and i would say that riding the 'grab-point' for starts/shifts will def own the clutch =[
Oh, and correct me if im wrong, but a burnout harms the tires more than it will harm the clutch.

burnout does not harm the clutch unless you constantly dump the clutch at high rpms... yes it wears the tires faster than the clutch becuz while burning out, your clutch gets dumped once and the tires remain in a spin causing the tires to wear faster...
and shifting into lift i dont think will hurt your clutch if your dounble clutch and drop it in with no slip but it you just throw it down a gear and cause the engine to slightly engine-brake then yeah that will overtime harm our clutch..
but the main thing that will burn your clutch is your dead-to-go... from a dead stop if you slip too much to ride in first (clutch half way depressed and gas pedal is engaged up to 2500 - 3000rpm you will burn your clutch... as well as being on hills... if you cant catch your first gear on a hill and you hold the clutch half way and try to slip it until the car is riding on its own up the hil then you will bun the clutch out as well..
and prety much anything that you do that produces a foul rubber smell other then your tires burning out will mostly be BAD for your clutch...
hope this helps

Contrary to popular belief, the clutch is always wearing when it's slipping, so slipping it a bit when landing lift on the 1-2 will also wear it. The times when you burn the clutch the most however is indeed when starting from standstill in 1st or riding it with the gas depressed between shifts. But by far the worst wear is doing burnouts and high rpm launches while feathering the clutch.

feathering the clutch at high rpms is just begging for a new clutch... haha

let someone that never drove a standard drive your car.
constantly beat on it, burnouts, rev way too high.

The worst thing is to stay at the red signal on an uphill and play with the clutch. I see some idiots doing it. They disengage the clutch and roll down, engage it and go up; then repeat it again and again.

the worst thing to do in that situation is to do what just about everyone does and over rev.
i hate hills.

Let your 16 year old brother with his brand new permit try to leave stick in your car, watch him go from a stop in 2nd gear while feathering the clutch and keeping the rpms around 4k... then bask in the smell of a freshly warmed up clutch...
follow this up by trying to impress him by going into a launch, and you'll be hitting the internet as hard as I am now trying to figure out which clutch you'll be buying after a couple more paydays. :violin:
the image of white smoke shooting straight out from under my hood still haunts me. I've been babying what's left of the clutch plate ever since.
