i was at a car show last night, and this was the most respectable car there

all the rest were cars from before i was even born, all american muscle crap that i can' stand and am completely not interested in. i thought there would have been a little better cars there, at least a few DSMs, but no. just this 300zx, a real nice m3, and an s2000. there were probably 400 cars there, and thats all the nice cars i saw

I'll give imports kudos for gas mileage. I have a lot more respect for Honda than I do Toyota simply becuase Honda engines are generally better as well as more efficient. I'll give Toyota kudos for marketing their economy cars to the masses in the right fasion: they make plenty bucks and their the most profitable car company in existence right now.

When it comes to actually LIKING a car, though, domestics and European imports are where it's at. They look better and peform better (powerwise) as a whole and with the new generations even the interiors are luxury-esque. Their not for everybody, but I've really got to say anyone who doesn't at least like a few of them are extremely Japanese import biased. There's too much not to like. Toyota, Hyundai, and Honda offer more fuel efficient options, but even Ford, BMW, Mercedes, Chevy, Dodge and Pontiac offer a few cars in the above 30 mpg territory that look just as good (my opinion) and perform just as well if not better. For example, I definately prefer domestics over Japanese imports, but I definately can't say I hate all imports in existence. I own a Celica and I think quite a few imports are great cars that I wouldn't mind owning. I also own an F-150 (which I love) but the new Toyota Tundras are just gorgeous and perform great. Too expensive for me for a truck, but I'd love to own one. That's pretty much the only import truck I'd rather have over my F-150 if cost wasn't a concern. The Nissan Titan is also nice.

But even if you ARE biased and hate domestics, you have to at least respect them. They rule the dragstrips and the race tracks, and if you want to take it to a local illegal level: they rule that as well. There's not much else to argue as far as performance is concerned.

Hey, yo, I know you ain't bashing an import! Al Gore's son was clocked at over 100mph in a Prius a couple days ago!!! That car is a blazing bullet and at the top of the performance curve, havn't you heard?

:rolleyes: Gimme a break. The Prius sucks at everything but the gas pump. It looks horrible from the outside, performs terrible, and if anything in the interior isn't plastic it sure fooled me. Absolutely nothing wrong with having great fuel efficiency, but please, that thing is an eyesore. At least by a Camy hybrid or one of the Honda options. Even the Ford Escape hybrid is easily 100X sexier (and I don't really think the Escape qualifies as 'sexy'). Either those or a European diesel, they get pretty good gas mileage and don't give up on peformance either.

Nuh uh, that sound is candy for the ears. What is iritating are little cars with 6 inch exhaust cannons.
