I may be going to a road race track day(w/ instructor :) ) at Fontana Speedway soon and was wondering what should I do to my car in order to make sure it is running safley? Should I bleed my brakes? They seem to feel a little soft and travel a little more before really grabbing. I am about to get my 15000 mile service done to my 6spd GT-S. Should I ttell the dealership to check up on anything in particular? I am also confused about the tranny fluid change interval, I have had Redline MT-90 in my tranny for about 11k miles, do I have to change it soon? The 15000 mile service says that transmission service may be required. How does the dealership check if I require tranny service? I have one last question, it is about the air filter on my AEM CAI. I have had this on the car for about 12k miles, do I need to clean it or replace it yet? The 15k miles service says to replace the stock air filter, but I'm not sure about the cleaning interval for the K&N filter on my AEM CAI.
Thank you

k&n filters should be cleaned not very often but I know I clean mine every 6months... they have a life span of about 50k miles I think ???

Basically all the stuff you just asked about has no need to be changed.

Tranny fluid can go for 30k pretty easy.
The AEM filter can go for 50k without maintenance. Go to k&n's website for backup on this.

I've run tons of road course / autoX and I have yet to do any brake maintenance and I have 48k on my car.

K&n has at LEAST 100k lifespan.

After hearing a few stories from friends who went to our local track (Summit Point Raceway in WV) and boiled their brake fluid coming out of a tight corner in their first or second session, I decided to be conservative and switch out the brake fluid. I had the car for a year and a half w/ 10k miles on it. While I was at it, I decided to put on a set of high-performance street pads (Porterfield R4-S) and stainless steel brake lines (Goodridge). Changing the fluid and the pads was fairly easy, but the lines were a little more involved. I have no regrets about the investment - the car held up great, and no hint of fade during the event. From what I have read, the most questionable benefit is probably from the new brake lines - the stock ones are probably fine. If I go again in the near future, I will probably bleed the brakes again, but not do anything else. I went with Motul 600 brake fluid becuase it was available, and because it also has a fairly high wet boiling point. I have bought some ATE Super Blue for the next bleed, which I am told has comparable performance.

Ok so I shoudl leave my filter alone. Now does anyone else have experiance with the tranny fluid? I was wondering how the dealership figures out if I need tranny mantainance.

fuild_gts: that was what I was worried about, boiling my fluid. I don't go to the track very often and the Celica is my daily driver so I don't want to put any harsh brake fluid into my car or ones that I have to ehat up or anything (hell, I don't know much abotu brake fluid in the first place). What would you reccomend? And do you reccomend I bleed my brakes before I go if I don't change my fluid out? How hard is it to change the fluid and bleed the brakes? Are there any guides online (the teamunison.com is gone now)?

Thanks for your help
