My next mod might be a level 10 TC but i was thinking maybe i should do the right thing and get a 6-speed as the TC will be running me over a grand anyway. Id rather wait save up more money and be 10x faster. If a new tranny is that much a used one is also a possiblity. Maybe after all is said and done i could even get some of my money back with my auto tranny. Also how much can i expect to pay for the install and also what else would have to be changed, like possibly the ecu. What are the differences between the automatic and the manual ecu's?

A new tranny for my old 2g GS-R was $2400 list price. So I would expect a GT-S six-speed to cost nearly $3000! If you're lucky, you might find a discount place and get it for a bit less.
Wait a sec -- you want to convert your car from auto to manual? Heh, good luck. Just keep the auto if you want to drag race. The six-speed will not make you 10x faster. In fact, it might slow you down when you mis-shift into second gear at 87 MPH.

Well paid Toyota a visit and it is 3000. I can almost have a damn turbo for that much. ****, ah well, im not goin that high, i'll either have to find a used one or go with the level 10 auto route. Not to mention the ecu's are different so i would probably have to swap that out. And i've ran plenty of 6-speeds and when the person really knows how to shift, the difference IS that much. Im talkin 3 carlengths by the top of my 2nd gear. That is a big difference in my book. By the way, you sayin i cant shift and ill blow engines?

thats kinda funny.. my local dealer told me 2200.00 http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/smile.gif.. anyhow.. If you are serious about buying a transmission I might be interested in selling mine.. it needs to be fixed by a tranny place.. should cost a few hundred to get fixed.. I want to get a new tranny.. brand new that is..

You should probably consider the new tranny before the turbo... call it a little more stress or straight up paranoia but it'll probably help
$3000 for the tranny itself or for the entire operation of swapping in a new one!? if it's the latter, i'd go for it...
btw, a properly driven stock 6-speed should put something like 7-10 carlengths by 85 mph from a stop and something like 15-20 carlengths by 100. it's in a completely different range. i raced a 6-speed the other day and he also only had 3 cars by 85, but he didn't launch, or shift well enough to nab VVTL-i.
i think i got over the depression from that loss http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/biggrin.gif i just want NOS. dual stage single wet fogger kit...i guess it'll run me about a grand, and i could install it myself (read: harass ryan to install it http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/wink.gif), and the car will then run 15.0 or better when i need it to (take about 2 seconds off your quarter mile...in other words, about 15 carlengths difference between auto and 6-speed).

It is $3000 just for the tranny, otherwise i would do it. Larry: Im kinda in the process of saving up for whatever im gonna do next so i shouldnt really make any deals right now with anybody, besides, if your looking to get rid of your tranny for a new one, do i really want the old one? hahaha 2000celicaspeed: Where did you see that, i cant find any parts like that for sale on etoyotas, it looks to be mainly accessories and stuff like that. When i have the money to spend i'll post on here asking if anyone knows of a tranny for sale before i go ahead with the level 10 mods. Maybe i should give my name and number to every junk yard around, sooner or later one should show up.
