Question about wiring for Indiglo gauge overlay

On the directions of my overlays, they say to wire the red wire to positive and black to negative...so is it the same as wire red to power and black to ground?

Yes
Unscrew one of you bolts that go to the metal plate under your steering column and put a round crimp on the end of you black wire and put the round part of the crimp around the bolt and swrew it back in very tightly....you will see what i am talking about after you take the big bottom plastic piece off. That is a very good ground.
