My Celica got slammed into from behind last night by a 2000 Saturn Coupe. I got hit on the left side and suprisingly the damage isn't as bad as I thought it would have been. In fact I was amazed I didn't have more serious damage. The Saturns passenger side fendor got cracked, her headlights/signal lights were no longer there, her bumper smashed in, and her hood was pushed up about 2 1/2 feet. The back bumper of my car got scrapped, no serious cracks on the bumper and that black piece that runs across the middle (on the lower bumper) had the left side of it cracked. I looked under the car to look for damage to the frame and I saw that the saturn slammed right into that big metal frame bar that runs straight from the back of the car to the front of the car. The bad thing is that I took the brunt of the impact since I was completely stopped at a stop light behind 3 other cars when the lady slammed on her brakes and plowed into me. Okay, now my question is.... That black plastic thing that runs across the middle of the bumper... If I was to take the insurance money and get a Wings West rear wrap (bumper area)... would that fix the appearance of it, or does the Wings West rear bumper wrap just go over the black thing that runs across the middle. I will post some pictures of the damage tonight when I get home.

Why is it always WOMEN who run into your rear?! I've been hit 3 times in my life, all in the rear bumper, all by WOMEN. 2 of which were yakkin' on their god damn cell phones before, during, and after the crash!! The other one was digging through her purse, probably looking for her cell phone! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

I dunno, this is the first time I have been hit. I was really pissed off right when it happened because I saw the damage on her car and I thought my entire back end was totalled. I have a freaking headache from hell too, my neck is stiff and sore which isn't too bad, but the headache throbs. I;m gonna drop by the doctor today and get some IB Profen or something.

Same thing happened to my friend after she got rear ended (by a woman, no less ). It went away in a couple days. Hopefully your head and neck ache will go away just as fast.
The black strip along the rear bumper is actually just part of the rear bumper, just unpainted. The WW rear will cover it up to a point. It will be less visible, but still noticeable up close.

I went to a place the Dealership I called recommended and they said it would be about $900 to fix the appearance, plus they said when the bumper comes off the have to check the crumple zones and frame to be sure more damage did not occur. Would you all recommend that I ask for a wheel alignment? Does being hit from behind on one side of the bumper when your at a complete stop screw up the wheel alignment? I have noticed some weird noises from my shocks when I go over speed bumps now also. I dunno, but her insurance company is gonna freaking pay for all of it. I'm getting two more estimates tomorrow and i'm going with the highest quote. My **** was new (its my first car I owned and I paid for it all on my own) and now its not been damaged and i'm going with the body shop that will make it as close as possible to new. I'm not the dip **** that ran into a car stopped at a red light with 3 cars in front of it..... how someone can misjudge so badly is beyond me..... only a woman would say such a retarded statement after the wreck... "I'm sorry I misjudged".... I felt like telling her "well wasn't that freakin enlightening....". I'm sorry but women are the worst coz you can't get mad at them... they are females.. you can't argue with them.. they cry.... so I guess I just suck it up and get my car fixed. But dude, this sucks, the rental car place better not give me some little freaking Metro tin can rental either, My car is bad a$$ and they better give me a rental comparable to my car, so i'm expecting at least a corolla or decent sedan.. the MF'ing insurance company should be fair and rent me a porsche rental so they can make me feel like i'm driving my Celica for the 3 days it is in the shop. I'm also not happy about State Farm Insurance, I got off from work today to go to a doctor just to be on the safe side and they told me that I have to pay the upfront costs and then they will decide if they want to reimburse? WTF is that? I called USAA (my insurance) and they told me that is not normal business practice and for me to go to a doctor ASAP and have the doctor contact state farm and they were sure it would be billed directly to them. So far i'm pretty pissed off at state farm, at least the local agent. Anyhow I will tell you how it all goes.

State Farm blows.. When my friend got rear ended in his Cougar they wanted to give him a used bumper instead of a new one. I don't know what kind of crackheads they have working over there but something's definitely wrong.

I made sure the estimate I got was all new Toyota parts, but I have heard about shady business practices of Insurance companies. I've only had my Celica for 6 month's and i'll be damned if they try to put used parts on my car. I'm having the auto repair place sign a documented piece of paper saying they used all OEM parts. I didn't pay $25,000 to have used parts on my car.

I've been an autobody tech for 24 yrs. now, so I'm no insurance company fan either, but I WILL say one good thing about State Farm. They won't use anything but OEM parts on your car because of the multi-million dollar lawsuit that they lost 2 years ago for using inferior aftermarket parts!
