Just seeing if there is enough interest for me to write an install guide on how to paint the inside of the headlights. I would just do it, but I'm lazy and don't feel like taking my bumper off unless there is interest :wiggle:.

I did the same thing. It looks good. I am kind of mad that someone else is doing it, now my idea isnt original anymore.

Wouldnt window tint or transparent smoked vinyl accomplish the same thing only MUCH easier? Granted it probably looks a lot cleaner and factory with the paint, but at least with the tint you could remove it if you got tired of it...just my .02.

BTW - do the how-to, I'm curious how you got the the headlights split apart.

If he says put them in an oven, I would advise against that, unless you dont mind the smell of melted adhesive plastic in your kitchen, and wouldnt mind cooking food in the same oven.

I got mine apart with a rotozip...yup I CUT them.

I also wouldnt use a heat gun, unless you have too much free time on your hands, and wouldnt mind getting goo all over yourself.

The oven is fine if you FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. The oven has to be at the lowest setting for about 5-10 minutes, then you shut it off before putting your headlight in. Let it sit for about five minutes. Then the glue becomes easier to pull apart. Had teh lights apart in about 30 minutes for both. Nothing burns, nothing melts, and nothing smells.

Now, if you're a moron and decide to throw them in the oven for 15 minutes at say 300- 350 degrees, then you deserve to have your headlights melted. If you do it the way I just described, it will work. If someone tells you otherwise, they did it wrong. I can guarantee that.

This trick is the same trick that most of the military uses when using a compound on their boots that makes them appear like pattent leather. The only difference is in that case, after you turn the oven off, you leave the boots in for hours, not minutes.

do those things pull apart? Nope. I tried opening up my bumper lenses before I did my headlights, and I accidentally melted them. :o Even though they were melted, I still tried to open them up. The plastic was all soft, but the glue was still solid.

Oh yeah, if you plan on trying it, be sure you have some air freshener around!
